A blue Texas Senate seat is a Democrat wet dream. If the blue wave is actually that big, Trump might actually be fucked.
If the Dems get power…they actually have to prosecute him. Which… hopefully happens but I’m not holding my breath for it.
I wouldn’t even prioritize this anymore: he’s too old to serve out the sentence he deserves. But he also seems to be trying to set up a line of royalty. His sons are becoming billionaires from his efforts at exploiting the people and those seeking influence. They’ll be around for decades longer and have wealth and influence based entirely on corruption.
This needs to be the priority. All those who helped defraud the country or profited illegitimately. Prosecute them. Prosecute them all. Remove the political power gained from corruption. Set an example for future minions and coat tails hangers on, that there is no profit in it and they will face justice
Enough power to remove a sitting president is almost certainly enough power to override any veto he makes.
It would also require close to (or more than) every single Senate seat going blue this year. Because going from 46/54 to 67/33 is a huge 23 seat swing.
(I’d look up the partisan split of this years senate races but I don’t want to make myself depressed.)
lol. Prosecute him? Who would enforce it? He has his new personal army and leads the Us military. The Judicial and Legislative have nothing to handle that. If he loses the house and senate I fully expect him to just start completely ignoring both of them.
Or to send ICE to arrest all the Democrats in the Senate and House who were foreign born or had parents who were, announce they’re all no longer citizens because of his insane illegal executive order, and deport them.
The US military would likely still refuse that. But ICE? That’s who he’d send. And if anyone tried to defend the politicians he was targeting and it turned in to a fire fight against ICE that’s when he’s pop the insurrection act. Ordering the military to kidnap sitting US politicians is one thing, but ordering them up to defend the federal agents in ICE from the “evil insurrectionist terrorist dumocrat libtards” shooting at them? I’m really worried they would do that.
Prosecution would require a compliant president.
I want to see trials not just of Trump, but of all the criminals around him. All of them, we need to restore law to this rotting apple.

They can have due process, that’s part of restoring the law, but the evidence is legion and they should easily be sent to jail.

Kinda agree with Hannity on this one, that seems like some pretty far-fetched polling from fox. Fear mongering to get the conservative turnout, perhaps?
I dunno about the last few years, but historically Fox’s polling was high quality.
They’re not idiots. They’re fascist propaganda operatives. They can’t wage effective psychological warfare campaigns or rig elections without knowing where to spend their time and effort; what works and what doesn’t.
His job is to sell the big lie of a rigged election if the fascists lose. Their entire purpose is to disinform.

As a resident I’ll be thrilled if Talarico wins.
But if news from my small city is any indicator, I don’t feel optimistic. A local mosque applied for rezoning to expand on their own property, and maga sheep showed up to the mosque’s meeting with the city. They bleated for several hours about sharia law being imposed in a place that’s about 99% christian. They were whipped into a frenzy by Abbott, Self, and others and are ecstatic to have something they think resembles a cause.
Obviously those morons don’t represent the whole state, but the magat politicians are having success with their fear campaigns as usual.
It is possible to change. We’re getting our first halal restaurant in the deep south city I work in, and no one cares. I say this having access to planning board actions. I didn’t see a single mention about it. This area still has a long way to go, but these little steps are so important in order to make change.
It’s entirely possible some are waiting for it to be done to then complain. But hopefully, truly no one cares. And hopefully we get to a point where no one cares about religion at all, and we just go beyond all that :)
