Trump administration policies slashing staffing and funding for public lands are waking a sleeping political giant in Montana. Will either party notice?
They explicitly did vote for this.
What did they think doge and “drill baby drill” would do?
“I voted for Mr. Hitler because he’d be good for the economy. I didn’t go in for all that Jew-killing stuff. You can’t blame that on me.” - German citizen, 1946
“I just wanted the Jews to not exist anymore, not that they should be killed!”
Definitely not defending it but originally it was pitched as removing them from the country. But when the Germans realized how logistically impossible that was going to be they just decided to kill them. That first part sounds a little familiar doesn’t it?
They will vote to throw out the current crop of GOP thieves and liars, then vote in a fresh new batch of GOP crooks.
Having learned nothing…
Long after they’d caught Saddam in a hole in the ground and found billions in cash floating around Iraq, I talked to a guy who swore that there had bee WMDs and that they’d been transported to Syria.
Was it ANTIFA? Ask him, I’ll bet he’ll say yes.
Democratic presidents have just become placeholders between disastrous Republican administrations, in office just long enough for voters to forget the last Republican debacle, and fall for the same old propaganda, and vote them back in to continue their destruction of America.
That describes every Democratic president since LBJ, our last warrior Democratic president.
I used to think LBJ was too much braggadocio even despite passing the Civil Rights act. Leftist Youtuber Kyle Kulinski admired him for having the big dick energy-- both figuratively and literally-- to not care about losing a substantial voting population to the opposing party, in favour of doing what is ultimately morally correct. Now seeing as how the party of supposed progressives and lesser evil is bending over to fascists, I see how being shamelessly Machiavellian and bully, if it meant to serve the greater good, could work.
Zink voted for Trump but said he doesn’t agree with everything the president does. Zink clarifies he calls himself a “conservative” over calling himself a “Republican.” He doesn’t like Trump’s inflammatory rhetoric. “I prefer common sense in the middle,” he said.
You fired for Trump. You’re a Republican. You don’t prefer common sense in the middle, you are a Republican that tries to distance yourself from the consequences of your actions by calling yourself a conservative. You did this to yourself, you fucking idiot.
There are no Republicans or Conservatives any more. That was just the larval stage for their final form: MAGA. The Republican/ Conservative movement is dead. They’re all MAGA whether they like it or not.
Remember in 2025 when GWB had so thoroughly fucked the country that even Republicans denied supporting him?
They never learn a damn thing; the party response is to always double down on reactionary policies that shore up their support among the absolute worst people in the US so that billionaires can consolidate their wealth and power.

Yeah, idk how I borked that.
… They literally voted for this.
He’s a rural Montanan whose way of life and livelihood depend on public lands.
Translation: he depends on socialism to survive (not that he’ll ever see it that way, of course).
Hunting season had yet to open when we spoke, but Zink was already hearing from fellow hunters who had to cut their own way into trails to hunting camps after Forest Service trail crews were laid off en masse.
Oh, no - work?!
Ranchers and farmers use public lands for agriculture; outfitters and guides take guests into them; hunters access them regularly to put food in the family freezer; and forestry, timber and sawmill workers fulfill contracts on them for wildfire mitigation and lumber.
Party of small government sure likes to suck the government teat.
I spoke to people across Montana, from different professions and down the political range from independent to staunchly conservative
Helluva range there, considering that (on a global scale) Democrats have right-wing views.
A ranch this size, 700 private acres, could still operate without a public land allotment by leasing other private land, but that’s much more expensive — prohibitively so, for most ranchers. Down in the Southwest, he said, many ranches are a whopping 90 percent federal land allotments; it’s often much less than that in western Montana.
Yeah, I don’t care enough to finish the article.
Edit typo.
Welfare for me, but not for thee.
It’s just insane to think these guys built their whole livelihood around government land and a healthy ecosystem; and then vote against both those issues every time.

Uhh… but he DID vote for that
Yes you did! YES. YOU. DID.
They’d all vote for it again though
I really wish they’d all at least admit “I didn’t know what I was voting for”
They are admitting that by saying “this isn’t what I voted for.”
They lack the capacity for introspection, or refuse to do it because it’s painful, so they’ll say this isn’t what they voted for, when in reality they weren’t paying attention and were fed nothing but “woke bad, prices high, deport immigrants, vote for me.”
They are admitting that they don’t understand, but that is different than admitting that they did.
“This isn’t what I voted for. But what choice did I have? Did you expect me to vote for a woman?”
“Her laugh bro”
At least when it was Hillary there was valid criticism of warmongering and Wall Street pandering / bribes. Getting people to vote based on her laugh really shows the type of citizens we’re dealing with. They probably love this article!
I’m happy that some people are realizing the damage this is doing; however I’ll hold my celebration until it has some real world consequences for these people.
I’m holding my celebration until they actually (a) stop voting for Republicans, (b) express public contrition for their vote, © start actively and publicly working against the political party that brought this into being, and (d) continue until that political party is dismantled because it wasn’t just “Trump” that brought this into being, it was the entire Republican party who deliberately stacked the federal and Supreme Court, who gerrymandered maps to keep their extremists in power, and who’s “moderates” still toe the party line (except in a few cases where their votes don’t matter, but only so they can have a couple things to point to, showing how “independent” and “Washington outsider” they are when they go home to campaign for yet another term).

This needs to be on billboards in every small town experiencing distress because of Trump policy

Oh they voted for it but they thought none of it would hit them. They were fine with it as long as it got those welfare queens off the government tit. They are racist shitfucks just like I deal with here in WNC. Same mentality.
I am so tired of stories about how this isn’t what these voters voted for.
I was told repeatedly that, no, these voters are smart and are not voting against their own interests and how dare I suggest otherwise.
These voters are morons.
