NEED TO KNOW

Arpineh Masihi, a Trump supporter and Iranian immigrant, was targeted by ICE and taken from her home on June 30

Her husband, Arthu Sahakyan, told a local news station that even though he misses Masihi, he still supports the Trump administration’s efforts to vet Iranian nationals

When asked whether he would take his MAGA flag off their house while his wife is detained, Sahakyan replied, “No, the flag stands”

MAGA is a mental illness. It flies in the face of all logic, is more important than friends and family, is above the law, relies on cult-like devotion, and is always right, even when proven wrong.

This is what I mean when I talk about how no amount of suffering will turn people to our side.

Suffering will not cure these fuckwits.

I honestly think their marriage was in shambles and he’s glad he doesn’t have to deal with it. That’s the only way this makes sense.

That or he needs his MAGA social circle so can’t show he’s abandoning their cause.

We are under a dictatorship. Think theough the possible outcomes

Is he continues supporting Trump, he may get an exemption as a reward for his continued support despite a large news story developing

If he speaks out against Trump’s policies, he’s effectively guaranteed not to get an exemption. Anti-Trump citizens are freqently attacked. They may come up with arbitrary crimes to charge him with, similar to Abrigio Garcia His own citizenship may be in jeopardy, as Trump has stated he may strip citizenship from those he disagrees with

For him personally, it’s an obvious choice: Publicly support Trump, as it maximizes your personal gains

Dont overlook the simple explanation that it’s a legitimate honest to god cult. Not an iota less cultish than Jonestown. The antivaxxers who lost a 6yo daughter felt no remorse either and did not change their minds on vaccines. These kinds of people have been willingly programmed into a nationwide cult. Idk what reconstruction will look like but unless it makes Sherman blush, there’s no saving this country.

Bible cults most certainly are, and the beliefs of the family that lost their child to measles is clearly one of those. They constantly make their followers do things against their self interest: tithing, eschewing modernity, having dozens of kids, mass suicides in the extreme cases.

Anyone who’s new to watching a trump administration - I gather a lot of you were, y’know, younger the first time around - It’s important to remember: there is no bottom. Each and every new low is soon passed by an even lower low. It never ends.

“I’m very for [the United States vetting] Iranian nationals because of the sleeper cells,” Sahakyan told Fox 11. “I think it will resolve a lot of issues because we’ll know exactly who’s in here for what reasons, even though I miss [my wife] dearly.”

Unbelievable. Just unbelievable. They’re married! It’s a family bond! Imagine being married to a person that’s like “sure, they took my spouse to a torture prison on foreign soil so I’d never see them or even their grave again, but they’re torturing them for the greater good™️, so while I kind of miss them, I’m sure it’s for the best of everyone. It was fun while it lasted.”

If I ever returned, I’d skin them alive. That, too, I think would resolve a lot of issues.

It’s common sense to support a dictator holding your wife hostage

What’s he supposed to do, speak out against the guy holding his wife?

In a democracy, his support for Teump would be questionable. We are no longer in a democracy. Supreme leader takes your family, you thank him and hope for leniency

It’s even weirder that judging by the names (wife’s first name and husband’s second) they are a pair of Iranian Armenians. It’s not as if Trump hadn’t broken every promise given to Armenians in the US.

my sister is married to someone like this and he also has a trump flag on the house they both live in.

i’m happy that my sister and nephews are all white-passing so that she’ll never have to suffer through an ordeal like this; but at the same time i frustrated that she thinks it’s fine and will never understand why it isn’t
