I told my wife islam is really pro feminist, so we’re converting from atheism. At least that’s what the Muslim women say on interviews while they’re completely covered and they all seem to have a nervous tick where they look off stage anytime they talk.

I’m not so sure. I think they might need Americans to come civilize their countries by bombing their families and killing their children. I have a name that can be for boys or girls. For some reason, most people assume it’s a girl’s name and act accordingly.
When I was a kid, my parents signed me up for basketball. Someone thought it was a mistake for a person with my name to be on the boys team and moved me to the girls team, without telling me or my parents. I will never forget the embarrassment when I showed up to the first practice. I quit on the spot and didn’t play basketball after that.
I like specifying the pronouns.

The problem is that we refuse to take responsibility for brats and treat nervous kids like shit instead. And they can’t even speak up cuz they’re kids.
I don’t know who ‘we’ is, but it does happen 100,000x on smaller scales with shitty parents. I’m sure it’d be a different story if 90% of adults wouldn’t get in trouble for parenting someone else’s kids these days to make up for the shitty parents.
And it’s a problem nobody cares about, because if you’re a kid, no one listens to you because you’re subhuman and beneath consideration, and if as an adult you support kids being people, you’re accused of being a pedophile.
It feels like it’s turning though. Or maybe that’s just in my circle… You’re describing an authoritarian parenting style. “Because I said so”
That’s how my wife and I grew up, more or less. Naturally, it put us both off. Our parents were not bad people, and have certainly come around with age. But they settled for certain bad patterns at times because they didn’t know an alternative, or one wasn’t culturally acceptable, only for “other” types of people - many reasons. They were also much younger, just barely adults themselves, and still not quite escaped from the gravity of their parents ideas.
But we think differently. There are still rules. We haven’t swung full permissive. That’s just as bad. But the “why” behind them matters. Understanding when how and why one would break them also matters. We are building a full-on person. There are many many different things you need to shepherd them through, starting with the very lowest level basics an adult doesn’t have to think about for themselves.
Like how to poop.
For real, we had to create the conditions for them to realize how to literally let poop out of their body. Which I guess is not always an automatic thing at first? It took a few days with ours, lots of belly massages, and strapping them to this weird vibratey cushion thing that was strangely effective
We want them to understand how things work. You have to be there all the time to build a really strong bond. They need a solid foundation of love, safety and stability for them to do as well as you want them to. You have to have the ability to see things through their eyes.
And that’s just it. We’re not egoic 20-year-olds. We’re mid-thirty-somethings. We had a nice long time to get to know our adult selves a bit. We have now started to feel time passing and we know this is not forever. We want them to be better than we are, because they’ll be here long after we’re gone.
Property. Kids are property.

sometimes i feel like before kids turn twenty, if you are more than four years older than them you basically can’t understand them at all. so maybe kids should learn from older kids. except they get put in a world where only other kids exactly their age and adults who don’t understand them at all exist. fuck school is what i’m trying to say. except i learned so many important things in school so fuck me i guess.

Children should be taught how the world works. Dont lie to them about the nature of the world. If you dont like what we have to teach the children, maybe you shouldn’t be having them.
My name could me male or female too. When i was little i had long-ish hair and a high pitched voice. A lot of strangers always assumed i was a girl. In hindsight i don’t care and it never really mattered, but i still remember how annoying that was for me. Ironically tho, later i always played in a woman’s team (like volleyball, tgat was like 90% women) because they were nicer to be around with than dudes.

if you can’t see how “forced genital inspections” is blatantly anti-trans i’m not really sure how to help you. this is going to result in the tiny number of transgender girls in sports being kicked or shamed off their teams, while simultaneously making things very uncomfortable for all the cis girls who will also be forced to undergo regular genital inspections. and for what?
the fact that these passed, in supposedly “woke” states, is not only awful in and of itself, but also sets a terrifying precedent for things to come.
Just to prevent misinformation, this hasn’t passed yet. It’s still to close to call, and King County, the most progressive county with the most people, have only had half their votes counted. The rest of the counties also have 25-50% of their votes left to count. And late-counted votes are usually from mail-in votes, which past years show are primarily Democrat votes in Washington.

yeah, people say a lot of things. but sex can be tested using a cheek swab.
But it won’t, because if that’s what anyone involved with this was actually worried about then they would be doing that already during a regular physical exam during which they already take a cheek swab. That doesn’t need a referendum.
This is about trans exclusion and making schoolgirls flip up their skirts for coach. There is no explanation for it that can suggest otherwise.

The initiative would require students participating in K-12 sports to submit medical documentation that verifies their “biological sex” as female. Does the text of Initiative 638 mention genital checks? It appears to be about making participation in sports based on sex, which may only involve a cheek swab to determine. People are discussing genital exams, but I’m not seeing that in the text of the Initiative. Please correct me if I’m in error here. I just think there is enough fear going around without worrying about things the initiative doesn’t say
And this logic is exactly the same as forcing us to use the men’s changing rooms, the men’s bathrooms, and sending us to men’s prison. The goal is to eradicate us.

I like reality, where trans women can play sports fairly with cis women because every study that relies on measurements (like real grown ups use) shows that trans women should absolutely compete on the womens and trans mens on the mens.
But for me, it’s deeper than that because frankly enbies deserve to play a game. You’re lame for defending stupid sports scholarships and the entire “school sports ecosystem”. These are all childrens games. The fact you talk with so much vitriol about trans people because of a game shows you have USELESS priorities.

Sure, I do it all the time. Turns out, volleyball has a real advantage for height. Should we ban all women over 6ft from playing volleyball? Being that tall is inherently unfeminine. Or maybe we should just ban any women who are too good at sports? Women are supposed to be gentle and soft, not aggressive! Get those aggressive, competative, manly women outta here.
The situation you’re talking about is rare enough to be negligible compared to the number of people excluded from women in sports communities for no reason. And honestly, for the VAST majority of athletes, playing sports is about community and inclusion, not accolades.
Who? That one swimmer who tied for 5th and threw a tempter tantrum that she had to share her 5th place finish with someone?
I’m willing to bet my house it isn’t the majority of all female athletes.

Yes. Once she was outed nobody would fight her anymore though. Extremely unfair as men have much bigger wrists, heads, hands etc. So important in fighting.
Similar things happened in weightlifting up here in Canada. A guy was such if seeing everybody lose to a trans champion so he declared himself a woman and shattered the current record by over 220 kg.

Plenty of people disagree with plenty of things. I don’t care about some popularity contest, I care about what is factually morally correct. Trans people deserve to play sports in an environment that’s as fair as it is for anyone else.
IMO all the stakes should be lowered and everything should just be coed.
But since we can’t have nice things then yeah the science says that taking feminizing HRT evens the playing field between cis and trans women. I didn’t make the rules, cis people did, but now that those rules validate and grace trans people with respect for their gender cis folk want to change things. Science definitely does not say that these drugs make people equal. They don’t change your physical bone structure. Your center of gravity. Thickness of your skull or your hands.
My state passed a ballot measure defining sex as whatever appears on your birth certificate. Not only anti-trans, but ignores intersex people or anyone with an error on their certificate.

We’re a culture that has influential athletes advertise gambling apps to kids on social media. I 100% guarantee these policies aren’t about the sanctity of sports nor protecting the children. It’s definitely other values that are driving people to fight this hard to legislate trans people.
They just don’t get to pick their team.
