At least Amazon had the forethought to use hand veins for biometrics instead of your face. You kinda have to go out of your way to see my hand veins, but this is just a blatent face-harvesting exercise.
My apartment building has a facial recognition system to unlock the door to the building. My cousin got recognized as his brother that was in the system and the door just opened for them.
What a wonderful idea to use the same tech to deal with money.

Every online business that collects photo ID has been hacked and those IDs have been stolen. Just saying.
Yes but there’s a big difference between IDs and biometric data, not to mention you can (in Europe at least) revoke an ID if you find it’s compromised, you can revoke an ID you can’t revoke your face.
This is the important part. Faces are immutable. Unless you’re a weird celebrity, you only get one.
Attaching your financial data and/or private data to something that cannot be changed and CAN be stolen or reproduced is a terrible fucking idea.
While real security technologies are moving toward ephemeral, short-lived credentials to fight credential reuse and theft, we have these fucktards going in the complete opposite direction.

I can’t say my face isn’t already in a bunch of countries databases in multiple countries; but I’ll take the small loss to get in and out of the airport.
Despite not completely agreeing with the method, flying into Japan is so easy now. Literately just go get my passport sticker-ed, the more stickers the less questions, look in the camera, grab my luggage, check in a podium terminal and mark that you don’t have pets and find out what exit to go through, and then walk out, another camera scans your face as you walk out. I would say the only thing that’s slow is the baggage claim. Korea is really bad with this one.
I think eventually it will be inevitable. But I’ll stick with cash as long as I can, not having something in your hand makes it really easy to overspend.
It’s going to be great when I can walk up to someone with a Point-of-Sale app on my phone, scan their face and charge them money.

Ya know I may be a Californian Redneck but I do at least with my facial features look pretty big standard ethnically Scottish, how many false positives could I trigger with my ugly mug? Regardless get one of those blowtorch lighters and melt the plastic camera lenses on these pieces of absolute detritus.
