I still do volunteer stuff when I have energy. No commitments, no responsibility, just help when you can.

But yeah the #1 hidden requirement of any job is reliability. If you get injured, sick, or for any reason cannot consistently do an 8 hour shift exactly when you’re told to; you’re basically just excluded from modern society and employment.

I tried really really hard to find any job that would take me, for a whole year. I gave up eventually. Freelance programming came close but they pay peanuts nowadays since you’re competing with someone in India where each USP (United States Peanut) goes much further and they can take the $200 for 2 months labour job.
