It apparently loses effectiveness when subjected to extreme temps, but that loss depends on length of exposure. [Source]
😅 I knew that! 😅
Why two? Depends on the mouse.
Probably wireless, andyou use one until it dies and then switch to your backup while the other charges (e.g. Apple’s Magic Mouse).Edit: I am so effing stupid. 😂
Which lines are those? I’d be willing to drop some money if they were to last longer.
The pregnancy test is sealed and unused. I want my money back!

World News@lemmy.world•The Auto Industry Was Warned: Battery Recycling Was Poisoning PeopleEnglish
2·2 days agoYeah, I’m not sure why you’re being downvoted. Everything you said is true, and respectful.
I think open-ended can be okay, so long as there are milestones we can achieve (i.e. try different things out to see what works and what doesn’t). Something as big as the environment, health/safety, and not completely alienating industries (as much as I hate to say it, we do need them and their resources to an extent), is not something that is going to be easily solved without compromise.
I expect that my last two points will not win me any popularity contests, but they cannot be ignored.

18·2 days agoSame for humans. Who needs that blinding orange fireball for anything. It’s so annoying making us warm, giving us free light and energy, and helping our bodies create Vitamin D.

4·2 days agoGotta start somewhere, and gotta keep at it. It’s difficult at times, and there certainly are people who just want to see the world burn. But fuck them. They aren’t worth our time and energy.

19·2 days agoFor what it’s worth, it’s not anti anything to point out flaws. If anything, it’s being pro because it opens the door for a conversation; which, if both sides come at it in good faith, can lead to change.

Programming@programming.dev•We should all be using dependency cooldownsEnglish
23·2 days agoColor me curmudgeon, but automated dependency updates should never be a consideration.
Also, one thing I do like that Github does is that it can be configured to send you a report of dependency changes (in yarn, for example).

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How do I explain my reluctance to use generative AI in good faith?English
124·3 days agoIt’s called a euphemism. We all know that a vegan is someone who does not use animal products (e.g. meat, eggs, dairy, leather, etc). By using AI in front of the term vegan, OP intimates that they do not use AI products.
I suspect you’re smart enough to know this, but for some reason you’re being willfully obtuse.
~Then again, maybe not. 🤷♂️~
Or, you might get asked to make holiday dinner every year. This is fucking gross. I love it!

Space@mander.xyz•Voyager 1 approaches one light day from EarthEnglish
11·4 days agoCorrect me if I’m mistaken, but it sounds like you’re saying we shouldn’t merely because we might have better tech in the future?
That, to me, is a bleak and defeatist mentality that will only hold us back from achieving greater things. Who knows what we could learn before we create better tech? What if we learned how to build the better tech on the back of what we build today? In fact, isn’t that what drives innovation (i.e. iteration)?
~At this point, I’m not suggesting you’re wrong, but merely verbalizing a concern of mine.~

4·4 days agoIt’s that very last one that concerns me. It feels like the drive that got us to the moon, and put Voyager out there deep into the cosmos, is nearing gone for one reason or another.

That said, do you think we could build something like this again that would last for almost 50 years?
