I don’t understand people who lose all sense of reason and logic when they use satnav.

Satnav is first and foremost an aid, it doesn’t replace your responsibility as a driver to actually look and figure out what is resonable when driving.

If I am confused while driving, with or without a satnav, I ignore it and find a parking spot so I can calmly check out what is going on with the route.

I’d rather take the wrong turn safely and have to drive back a bit than listen to bad advice and drive down a bad road.

SatNav is a voice of authority telling you what to do.

The amount of people that turn off their brain and completely cave to a voice of authority, regardless of the consequences, is disturbingly high… as the Milgram Experiment shows.

As soon as I got my car, I turned off the voice in google maps, I like having the directions, but I hate having a voice telling me what to do

Unfortunately this extremely correct line of thinking and practice is only performed by the super vast minority of drivers. People are absolutely stupid anymore.

Oh yes, I know, I know.

I even take it further, if I make a misstake and end up in bad spot, but everything turned out ok in the end, say if I blow a stop sign or something similar, it has happened, though it is rare.

Then I will do either of two things:

        1. If it is remotely practical, I will drive back and drive the exact scenario again, while paying extra attention to why I made the misstake and what I need to work on, I will do this multiple times to make sure I get it right.
        2. If going back ins not an option, I will make a mental note of checking out the location in Google Street View and look at the signs, marking and general situation while recalling the situation, to try and investigate what went wrong.

I do my best to try and learn from my own misstakes.
