Counterpoint: The AAA game industry and its institutional funders wield vast amounts of capital and are uniquely capable of making big and interesting games that would not be possible for an indie. It is, in fact, worth lamenting the fact that these resources are being squandered, in the same way we should be angered by the way that data centers waste our water.
What are your favorite indie titles?

Fuck yeah.
The characters, the lore, the places to explore! God I wish I could forget it and play it again for the first time.
Pretty happy with Crimson Desert right now, so I can’t say I agree even on the AAA front tbh
Nothing good comes out of
Hollywoodthe game industry because I only pay attention to the crappy releases!I’ve heard crimson desert is looking good but has bad plot and quests
The quests can be good or bad, usually pretty basic. But when a good one comes along, it surprises you and is pretty exciting. I’ve enjoyed it quite a bit.
Side note: the AAA dudes have only ever played like three games, but touched up and rereleased every year for the past two decades (e.g COD, AC, halo, Skyrim)
Increasingly derivative live streamer fodder ain’t any sort of paradise for me. People give indie games way too much credit.
