Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, on Sunday renewed his call for free and fair elections in Venezuela, just two days after the Trump administration announced that the U.S. would take over 65 billion barrels of oil from the South American nation.

“There need to be democratic, free elections in Venezuela,” Cruz told NBC News’ “Meet the Press,” adding later in the interview that elections should take place there “midway through next year.”

The acting Venezuelan president, Delcy Rodríguez, took over after U.S. forces captured then-President Nicolás Maduro in January and brought him to the U.S. to face drug-trafficking charges.

    He tried to overthrow the duly elected government.

    Did you know when the United States illegally invaded Haiti and conquered it in the early 1900s they allowed an election too. The United States wrote a new constitution for Haiti, one that allowed foreign ownership of land and indemnified the US Armed Forces from any crimes committed. US Marines of course were stationed at all of the polling places, you could submit a white card to vote Yes or a black card to vote no. Except only the white card was on the table. You had to ask for the black card. From the Marine. Holding the gun. Who would take down your name first.

    I don’t mention that for any particular reason.

    Maybe before the elections in the states happen, and they force the president to release the duly elected people that should be there?? Or make sure the CIA meddling is pulled back as far as they can be.
