It’s just they inherited a shit ton from the Hillary/Biden/Kamala fund, which legally was a joint fund with the DNC and then got passed down between their campaigns.
So no candidate, not even presidential, will have something like that moving forward.
The money, was/is given to state parties, and they would be using that money for party operating costs and to work with campaigns post primaries.
But we shouldn’t be worried about the lack of a “victory fund” next presidential. There’s a certain point where having more money doesn’t really help. The prior DNCs were just obsessed with dollar amounts, that’s why they just kept throwing dinners with George Clooney. Anything they got in donations was used to generate more donations, but no one ever spent the money to get votes.
They just counted on the only other option being trump, and that’s not a good strategy.
Looking at what Martin did in Minnesota and has been doing the last year and a half; his strategy is to run a fair primary, because that gets the candidate with the best shot of winning in the general.
However, it’s still on the state parties on how they disburse the funds. Everything except the presidential is a state race, and with the return to a bottom-up DNC, it relies on people being active at local and state levels.
Because the DNC isn’t going to fix your state.
If you’re concerned about the 2028 presidential now, get involved in your state party now.
