Panel 1: Two hairy cavemen sit on rocks and talk. They have long, unkempt hair and beards, as well as uni-brows, and wear short loin clothes. One of the cavemen on the left gestures while speaking to the other who is bush drawing in the dirt with a stick.
Caveman 1: Hey, you remember that cave painting of the guy with the spear?
Panel 2: Caveman 1 listens with a smile on his face. Caveman 2 is excited to discuss this masterpiece, his stick forgotten.
Caveman 2: Of course! That painting is the best!
Panel 3: Caveman 1 drops some knowledge on Caveman 2 who grabs his hair in shock and horror at the revelation.
Caveman 1: Would you believe that was made 20 years ago?
Caveman 2: Whaaat?
Panel 4: Caveman 2 covers his face with his hands to hide his despair. Caveman 1 somberly agrees with his companion.
Caveman 2: Fuck I’m old…

22 years were always long, especially when you are talking about the edge times just before there were massive changes.
Take for example 1913 vs 1938 in Austria. (Ok, technically it’s 25 years, but it’s not much more than 22 years.)
In this time span you had:
You can find similar periods of rapid change in every country. For the US look at e.g. the independence war or the civil war. Or the time before, during and after WW2.
Yes, we are in a time of somewhat rapid change, but neither is that unique, nor is it especially rapid.
And the comparison between 1890 and 1960 is entirely invalid. Much more changed in this time frame than between 2004 and 2026.
