It’s the workers who really make the world run.

We know this because the entitled rich fucks “in charge” would collapse into helplessness without us. They like to think they’re above us all, but they’re practically spoiled toddlers, completely dependent on us “grown ups” providing food, clothing, and other basic needs through our labor.

If only we could shake off these leaches.

Well, sometimes people are confused about someone with really low IQ and someone who simply acts stupid. Trump maybe not a genius, but not an idiot also. He is just an awful bastard. I just cannot understand why he acts stupidly so often.

Agreed. Intelligence isn’t something someone can just change. IQ despite being a faulty and flawed metric is also largely influenced through one’s environment during childhood. The other things are changeable, IQ really isn’t changeable in adulthood when we finally gain more control over our environment to make that change.

Its like putting down someone for where they were born, the color of thier skin, or otherwise. Saying something like “easily manipulated” or “lack of self awareness” would have conveyed the same vibe without the ignorance.

It not “low IQ” it’s lack of education, which does lower tested IQ, especially for stuff like crystalized intelligence.

But just in general, throw a random maga into a year of college and their measured IQ will jump a significant amount. It’s not they’re becoming more intelligent.

Like, think if Usain Bolt didn’t start training for running till he was 30. He’d never get to the point he is today, but he’d see massive gains at first due to his genetic advantages towards running.

Similarly MAGA would show giant gains, because they haven’t been exercising their brains in ways that an IQ test measure.

Especially with critical thinking, the prefrontal lobe can grow well into your 60s, especially if it’s already below average.

But if we’re talking about brain differences and political leanings, you really need to be talking about amygdala differences at the same time.

        Eh…

Pedantic difference but dumb/stupid/ignorant is not the same as “low IQ”.

And some people can absolutely be bullied into doing the right thing by calling them stupid.

IQ is potential, smart/stupid is what they’re doing.

Like, the videos where a 300lb ex male cheerleader does some crazy backflips, even tho they’re really out of shape. They still have the potential to do impressive shit, but unless they put the work in, they can’t live up to potential on a regular basis.

It’s like how they dropped “genius” to only 120 IQ, but included “work ethic” as a determinator.

It’s not just about potential, it’s how/if you use it

IQ is a bad way to measure intelligence. It only focuses on the culture and environment the test is geared towards.

I agree, there’s a number of problems with conflating IQ as measuring “intelligence”. Whether you are looking at the testing or the scores, it’s all human construct influenced by cultural, environmental, and educational factors and it’s not just the testing that is flawed or incomplete.

It really doesn’t take much to admit that we barely understand many of the fields which people assume authority over and hype up. Humanity is in its infancy societally, and IQ takes way too much focus in an educational context and likely results in a huge amount of discrimination and loss of potential of children who test low from a young age (for whatever reason).

The person you are responding is trying to suggest that there meaningful brain differences worthy of study (underdeveloped prefrontal lobe/amygdala differences) in conservatives/MAGA (which is definitely not determined in any meaningful way by existing research), is defining “smart” and “stupid” as what people do (which is just stereotyping behavior from an outside perspective), in a recent exchange with me claims to have a psychology degree and said here that they believe that “people can […] be bullied into doing the right thing by calling them stupid” (which is definitely not something encouraged in the field and is dehumanizing/reinforces a negative self-image), and so forth.

Suggesting brain differences in the context of people’s political leanings (in my mind) is very discriminatory behavior and I don’t think many picked up on the gravity of how dangerous and harmful such a suggestion is. What benefit is there to that study? The only reason I can imagine is to support casual claims that promote the idea that if somebody disagrees with you, is less informed, etc. has an “underdeveloped brain” and “amygdala differences”. I’ve really scratched my head here and I can’t think of anything desirable resulting from that study or those implications being drawn about MAGA/conservatives. And what comes next? Looking at leftists and finding fault with their brains?

            Correct.

IQ is a bad way to measure intelligence

            Not correct…

I’m hoping you meant “IQ tests” and not the fundamental concept of IQ tho…

You don’t see how fast a fish can climb a tree, but you can time it swimming upstream.

Some stuff like crystalized intelligence (trivial pursuit) need switched out almost constantly. But things like pattern recognition (make this shape from smaller shapes) are so generic that primates and even corvids can take the same test as us. Working memory too, a chimp absolutely demolishes us at that one btw.

The main problem with IQ tests is people pick one specific test, and want to have everyone take it and only care about the overall score. Which is a gross oversimplification of any actual IQ exam.

That’d be “white fragility”. The only white dudes who aren’t racist are directing their anger towards the racist ones who justify the stereotype.

Generally speaking? When someone fucks up this bad, you rake them across the coals until they acknowledge they fucked up and apologize. At which point it is a learning experience.

Considerign OP has actively ignored this? Either they are a chud or they are just karma farming (in a social media site that doesn’t track that…) the chuds. So fuck 'em.

For real, I noticed that too. I think there’s also a bit of a thing with fascism over the Brazilian, since Vargas’ Brazil was the most prominent fascist nation outside Europe.

Vargas’ Brazil was the most prominent fascist nation outside Europe.

Was it really though? Seems like a bit of a stretch… But ok.

Maybe the japanese empire (before ww2), or the south african apartheid regime, but vargas?

Brazil did have the integralist party which was the largest fascist-like movement outside europe, but vargas didnt really go along with them.

I’m gonna be honest, I’m not a huge Brazil expert. I had thought Vargas was close allies with the integralist party and even sort of it’s figure head through much of the rise of fascism.

Yeah. There are a LOT of ways that can go but all I remember of Mati was that he was ambiguously brown and kind of a hodge podge of different cultures and backgrounds (wiki says he is officially “South Native American”)
