What? I don’t know any anti-Jew conservative…
I’m sure they just talk about the Space Lasers because they admire the technological innovation.
/s ?
No, I’m quite serious. I don’t understand why I’m being downvoted for direct experience; I know conservatives who are happy that Israel is “reclaiming its rightful land,” even ecstatic; who else is funding them? I thought it was liberals who are anti-Israel.
Can people stop freaking downvoting? I’m trying to get education here. Downvotes are for spammers and trolls, whereas I’m being honest in just trying to figure this out, geez.
For “conservatives” there’s a difference between what Israel does in Israel/Palestine/Gaza and what they think “the Jews” do in their country. You never heard of people claiming that for example George Soros is secretly funding something that conservatives don’t like?
You’re downvoted because you are confused.
1 - Being against Israel genocide of Palestinian and anti Israel is not the same thing
2 - Israel != Jew people place, that is the narrative people push to tell jewish people to go live there even if they want to stay where they are
Your first comment was downvoted because “I’ve never heard of conservatives hating Jews” is similar to “I didn’t know the sky was blue”. Racism is one of the defining features of conservatism, and frequently being faced with racism is one of the defining parts of Jewish history; see also the Nazis.
Your second comment was downvoted because conflating opposition to Israel with antisemitism in order to accuse the left of antisemitism is a common right-wing tactic
I’m not conservative. Do people assume I’m conservative? Is that why people just mindlessly downvote without even caring how it’ll emotionally impact the recipient? People don’t have to cast a vote on every comment they see. Why is there such a horrible “Crucify him” instead of “Educate him” mindset? This is literally being no better than the other side.
Racism is one of the defining features of conservatism
I know, and Jews are considered white in all my circles across the political spectrum (I have both super-liberal and ultraconservative friends). That’s why I’ve been shocked by all this.
And my direct experience- as well as others, considering the downvotes- is that half of conservatives are literally KKK members, and the other half have no strong feelings about jewish people in general, unless they are killing Palestinians. Then they love Jews.
Most of the Zionists in America, in both the Democratic and Republican Party, are Christian Zionists. And are absolutely antisemitic.
Zionism itself is anti-Semitic at it’s core, it other-izes Jewish people, and justifies the violent settler colonialim of Israel as in the defense of all Jewish people, which only serves to further fuel genuine Antisemitism at the expense of Jewish people globally. Zionism is also an inherently fascist ideology. The ethnic cleansing of the native people of Palestine has always been fundamental since it’s inception as a colonialist movement. Adi Callai, an anti-zionist Israeli, does a great analysis of how Antisemitism has been weaponized by Zionism during its history.
Candace Owens has started denying the Holocaust and claims that Jews shot JFK - she left the Daily Wire . Alex Jones has been having Nick Fuentes on and saying all kinds of fucked up shit - teasing at blood libel and calling out big name conservative Jewish commentators like Ben Shapiro.
It’s actually a huge split in the alt right. There’s the ones that are pro-Israel because they’re killing Muslims/weird Christian eschatology reasons, and the ones that are pro-Palestine because they hate Jews more than Muslims. Actual antisemitism is on the rise, even if groups like the ADL have been trying to muddy the waters by pretending that criticism of the genocide is antisemitic.
I did not know this was going on and I’m glad the right is facing chaos. Thanks for being among the most respectful, detailed, and objective respondents here. These unbelievably disrespectful comments have not been a pleasant experience as I’m a non-conservative who reluctantly works in a largely conservative workplace, where there has not been a single anti-Jewish statement but instead only full support of basically literally everything that Israel does and has been doing. The people at my very public-facing workplace have been strongly anti-protest to the point of “Deport all pro-Hamas,” so this is all news to me. (Yes, I’ve tried to leave this job, like, 10x… it’s not that easy these days, sadly.)
You keep conflating anti-zionism with antisemitism, which is itself antisemitic.
While conflating the two, your comments will come off as conservative
Who do you think “they” are supposed to be?
I don’t know; where did I say the word “they?”
That’s hilarious
