The closed-door meeting of the House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee, which is closely aligned with Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., yielded 34 votes for Connolly and 27 for Ocasio-Cortez, according to a member of the panel. The position opened up after the top Democrat on Oversight, Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., challenged Rep. Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., for a similar post on the Judiciary Committee, prompting Nadler to bow out.

Came here to complain about geriatric leadership and saw that you’d already scored that point. You know what? I’m still mad enough to talk about it. Fuck this shit.

A septuagenarian in a cancer fight. Instead of someone who can inspire people.

    Bra. Vo.

I keep thinking they can’t be more out of touch, but every time, they come from behind and force me to believe.

Right? If Harris had gotten someone even more conservative on stage with her than Liz Cheney, maybe she would have won! We need to tack hard right, maybe to the right of trump in order to win.

There already exist leftist parties. They languish in obscurity thanks to our election process. We didn’t get a new right-wing party, we witnesses a determined enough voter base take it over through primaries starting with the Tea Party and culminating with MAGA. We need more leftist candidates and voters showing up in the Democratic primaries to wrest the party away from the old guard.

This is the most important point alot of my fellow leftists just refuse to accept. Because of the way our elections are structured, the only way for us to gain real electoral power is by capturing the Democratic Party and its voters. Getting success with a 3rd party is exponentially more difficult than running up the scoreboard during the primaries, even with DNC fuckery.

Ive been feeling that lately, that MAGA is just the tea party. I didn’t put it together until I saw a sign advertising a local tea party organization though

Yet more evidence I am not a Democrat. I wish I didn’t have to be in this party just to try to influence it in primaries.

well after Pelosi torpedoed AOC there’s little surprise. That person is dead set against progressives tanking them at every opportunity. She is made of steel and were effective in some things that were net positive but she’s wielding too much power with Democrats and is virtually unchecked.
