People shouldn’t be censored for a lot of things anything. Can we agree to stop playing the turn a blind eye to reality game? The older I get the more I get sick and tired of that shit. My comment got auto modded because I wrote that someone called me a fg-t in public. Great success?

It helps to take pride in speaking your mind in the way you feel comfortable with. If you get banned or get backlash or whatever, fuck it. I agree that self-censoring has become way too extreme and tbh I blame the shitty corporations who punished people for going against their arbitrary terms and narratives, and bowing down to them.

Edit: I want to make it clear I’m not talking about hate speech, etc. I just mean not being a slave to what others think of you. And allowing yourself to get backlash or banned or whatever here and there. Stand on your principles, as long as you aren’t an objective piece of human garbage.

I can see that. I would rather see people for who they really are.

Like you state, this cookie cutter Disney version of TV shows really postures that notion. Okay, maybe I did have a wide variety of friends like the shows are ironically but it wasn’t like a TV show. I mentioned this in a few posts now but it’s like my friend that was Asian had her car keyed with–racial term for an Asian person–and does me censoring really do anything? My friend from Lebanon, his mom made the best food, had death threats after 9/11, with all the terminology that came with that. One of my friends got picked on and they called vinegar with a drawn out pronunciation and well of course they didn’t get in trouble.

Worse yet, I had students that would say knee-growth, which was odd to hear because a coworker had cancer in his knee–which I didn’t think was possible. And well that degraded to n-wah as in n-word. So we’re back in full circle. And I mean I had to read aloud, huckleberry finn, so n-word city before the edited version. At at the end of the day, are we accomplishing anything by saying n-word, f-word, r-word?
