  • Median, not average, so much better at showing this situation than mean but it’s still not great. I agree that it should be broken up, but the difficulty is how you define the grouping will have a significant impact on the results, especially in early and later years.

I’d prefer median by age graphed by age. Average by any grouping will skew heavily if there is a lot of variance, and I absolutely expect there is in the US. A box-and-whisker plot could also be ideal here, but you still have the grouping problem.

  • I can’t help but feel it’s intentional. So many people are waiting for someone to step up and lead, but it’s almost like the Democrats are avoiding effective leadership.

I’m still on the “controlled opposition” train. When my politically challenged ass can point out major flaws in campaign strategy for an organization with millions upon millions of dollars of funding, it makes one start to wonder.

  • I need to start faking computer illiteracy or at least downplaying my level of literacy. Employers notice how quickly I get computer-related tasks done, but then they expect that as my norm while my coworkers are struggling to use any device without a touch screen.

The last new hire I trained was in his mid-twenties and lacked basic tech literacy outside of the iPhone. I asked him to write up a quick protocol using a template I sent him. He typed the text of the Outlook file preview into notepad and went from there. I was baffled.
