Thought this might be some fun, so…

What are some lines from song lyrics that really hit you the right way? It could be that it’s deep and meaningful, or just something that amuses you. I’ll start:

Isn’t it funny how laughter looks like crying with no sound, and raindrops taste like tears without the pain ~ Queensryche - Another Rainy Night (Without You)

Droplets of “yes” and “no” in an ocean of “maybe” ~ Faith No More - Falling to Pieces

A smile as sweet as flowers
Wilted so and soured
Black tears stain the cheeks
That once were so admired
~ Dave Matthews Band - The Dreaming Tree

Her lovers queued up in the hallway
I heard them scratching at the door
I tried to tell her about Marx and Engels,
God and Angels…
I don’t really know what for…

But she looked good in ribbons
The Sisters Of Mercy ~ Ribbons

Red Dirt Girl, all of it really but this always gets me:

She loved her brother I remember back when

He was fixin’ up a '49 Indian

He told her, "Little sister, gonna ride the wind

Up around the moon and back again"

He never got farther than Vietnam

I was standin’ there with her

When the telegram come for Lillian

Fontaines DC song A Hero’s Death is probably the most uplifting punk song in existence, I love it.

    Chorus:

    Life ain’t always empty.
    Life ain’t always empty.
    Life ain’t always empty.
    Life ain’t always empty.
    Life ain’t always empty.
    Life ain’t always empty.

Don’t get stuck in the past.
Say your favourite things at mass.
Tell your mother that you love her.
And go out of your way for others.
Sit beneath a light that suits ya.
And look forward to a brighter future.

    (Chorus)

Sink as far down as you can be pulled up.
Happiness really ain’t all about luck.
Let your demeanour be your deep down self.
And don’t sacrifice your life for your health.
    When you speak, speak sincere.
And believe me friend, everyone will hear.

    (Chorus)

    Bring your own two cents.
Never borrow them from someone else.
Buy yourself a flower every hundredth hour.
Throw your hair down from your lonely tower.
    And if, and if.
You find yourself in the family way.
Give the kid more than what you got in your day.

    (Chorus)

Never let a clock tell you what you got time for.
It only goes around, goes around, goes around.
Take your family name for your own great sins.
'Cause each day is where it all begins.
And don’t give up too quick.
You only get one line, you better make it stick.
If we give ourselves to every breath.
Then we’re all in the running for a hero’s death.

so practically this whole song (sorta half and really half of a half. its complicated) from jethro tull just becomes more and more relevant every year as the dystopia increases:

There’s the stillness of death on a deathly unliving sea
And the motor car magical world long since ceased to be
When the Eve-bitten apple returned to destroy the tree

    Incestuous ancestry’s charabanc ride
Spawning new millions throws the world on its side
Supporting their far-flung illusion, the national curse
And those with no sandwiches please get off the bus

    The excrement bubbles
    The century’s slime decays
    And the brainwashing government lackeys
    Would have us say
It’s under control and we’ll soon be on our way
To a grand year for babies and quiz panel games
Of the hot hungry millions you’ll be sure to remain

The natural resources are dwindling and no one grows old
And those with no homes to go to, please dig yourself holes

And if you choose not to decide you still have made a choice

That line helped kick my ass into gear and actually start living the life I wanted instead of sitting paralyzed by my fears

One Week has been permanently tied to its usage in Smooth by Neil Cicierega for me

Freedom’s just another word for nothing left to lose.

This one really does make you think, doesn’t it? “Me and Bobby McGee” is a song I listen to for the tune for the most part, but listening to the lyrics is a bit of a different experience.

Heh. When you first see the title you expect it to be some angry metal song, actually wishing for someone to die, but then you listen to it and it turns out quite poetic and romantic, in an “us spending time apart is unthinkable, even in death” kind of way
