AI wouldnt exist in any similar form without capitalism, so youre technically roght. But devaluing (emotionally) artists works and making it harder to discover them because of easy mass proloferation of ai works (would happen regardless of capitalism imo) is a very heavy negative already, not to mention to the ecological toll it takes, which isnt solved by removing capitalism from the equation either as thats necessary for it to function in its current state
If generative AI wouldn’t exist in a society without capitalism we would have failed. We need innovation and science, just without the profit motive. I agree that it probably wouldn’t be as prevalent, but we don’t stop cern because it requires a lot of energy.
cern might be a bad example. cern was literally built because every nation on earth feared that it would be left behind on the development of even stronger nuclear physics shenanigans to make weapons out of it; and every country wanted to be “in” on the world-class research in this field. that’s why every country benefits from participation in CERN. this research was not paid because of “good-will”, but because of fear and military necessity.
