As someone in the US with pretty good paid sick leave (there are many of us, but certainly not most people working lower-wage jobs), I think the joke here is that they are requesting 30 days up front and fashioning it as a threat
As someone from the civilised world, the only acceptable amount of paid sick leave is infinite (with doctors note).
If the doctor says you’ll need 30 days to heal, then you get 30 sick days up front. nothing funny about that.

This is such a braindead fucking take. Lemmy is like Reddit BY DESIGN. We have “subreddits”, we have posts which people comment on which can be upvoted and downvoted. The entire structure of Lemmy is Reddit.
If you don’t want Lemmy to be like Reddit then fucking leave for another social media platform because it always will be like Reddit. The problem wasn’t the idea of Reddit itself or the memes posted there, it was the corporate takeover of reddit and the general community.
People posting things they found on other social media sites, including reddit, isn’t the problem and never was. If anything it drives up engagement and potentially leads more people here because they see its not dead.
The real thing thats “making Lemmy reddit” is annoying as fuck posters like you who think they’re smarter than they really are.
I think Satan.M.C.F., and a lot of lemmy users here, enjoy a quality that Reddit cannot offer…

That last one might cause some daze and confusion amongst the meat here. Bots programatically made to repost are given a free pass – they just don’t know the complexity and natural language of the fleshed. Of course anybody is allowed to post their favorites here at anytime. We squishies just get confused when we read word-for-word something that’s off, not right, uncredited, etc.
For example, posting a… “My bae lost the honeymoon videotape that was labeled ‘Taylor & Travis 2026 taxes’. If you find it dont play it. It’s boring” … sounds sus.
Posting instead a… “I work at hotel. Found guest’s lost tape. Gon’ play it on hotel TV channel 3 to see if anyone recognize. Come downstairs to front desk if you don’t know how to use a football or mic” … is more believable.

Offices are mostly a relic of the past, taking up livable space so that management can micromanage employees and justify their phoney-baloney jobs.
I work in corporate America. I will never side with HR
HR at the horrible mega Corp I work for has been described as “day care”. They all seem to move at a glacial speed, which when you’re dealing with time sensitive tasks I’d say is incompetence.
The few I’ve talked to are nice, in a polite small talk way, but it just shouldn’t take a whole month to go from application to phone screen. Certainly not for internal candidates.
This guy must be the least liked in the office.
