    I do feel it is more imperative than ever, as nations around the world are twisting what it means to be civil. Comrades of mine don’t even use the word “civil” for “decency.” Where I live, it is “civil” to drag trans people off toilets and assult us. That is no “decency” I want to be part of. This is primarily why we make the distinction, as we do not want to be associated with bigotry.

        I would really like if you incorporated these statements as well:

        We want these instances to be about nostalgia and community. We do not intend to be a political instance, but will not tolerate bashing of minorities of any kind.
        baseline of respect for other people - no matter the background.

        It shows what your instance is about, and what you desire to uphold. If folks see a positive outlook for the instance, the rules should reflect the positive goals you are striving to maintain.

        E.g. [you don’t have to use my diction]

        Here are the guidelines we uphold in order to promote our wonderful communities:
        Be decent/respectful[/Respect people]! Bigotry is unwelcomed. This includes, transphobia, queerphobia, racism, ageism, ableism, etc… We are trying to foster a nostalgic instance, not promote hate.

        Flesh it out a tad more if you like. Correct me if I am wrong, but am I perceiving that English is not a language you’re masterfully versed in?

          It’s not my primary language, indeed. Even still, writing for public view is a different beast all together, and I don’t think I would be well versed in that even in my mother tongue.

          I’ll try to rewrite the sidebar tomorrow. It’s past midnight here, and I need to sleep. Thanks for your help.
