    So the spam is clearly abuse. That being said, you seem to be handling it in a terrible way.

    The user in questions argument is pretty sound. No one saw the comment where you “called him out”. It wasn’t a rebuke, just the only comment in a thread with 14 upvotes.

    Second, in the same day, you also “rebuked” three other people

    I can see 2 polarizing instances thinking that way. But I do not respect Gedaliah, Jordanlund or Mr. Kaplan at all.

    So I don’t see why it couldn’t be any of them if throwing darts around without thinking is what we are doing.

        I’m saying that your criticism of the person may be valid and you certainly are being harassed, but these two things aren’t necessarily related which makes all of this kind of silly and hypocritical.

    Regardless, that’s some insane behaviour on display in the OP whoever it is.

      They were banned a year ago from dbzer0 for transphobic comments, & also from blahaj. I just banned them from AN as well, to sync up the bans. The fact they are still an admin on SJW speaks volumes about the instance.

            Well said! I wish people researched sjw before jumping to the second admins defense.

            I wish Stemats did his investigation on this. He knows how to do document bad actors. He doesn’t care I supported him when was targeted, I’m just a crazy vegan to him.

            We must remind the public what those in power once said unless they apologized and made amends.

            The admin was weirdly proud about their spiel about doing nothing for others being told to off themselves.

            The fediverse deserves better.

      Retrolemmy is actually considering installing pylova, until migrations gets implemented.
      Wife is planning to jabberize pylova, or elisp her own jabber+thready instance software, as Movim already implements most of the modern XEPs.
      But migrations c’est premier.

        RetroLemmy is not considering that. Retrolemmy will remain lemmy, as the name suggests. However we do have a PieFed instance called Retrofed running piefed. I am aware of pylova, but I am not considering switching at this point.

We will not tolerate bigotry, transphobia, homophobia or other uncivilities. We want these instances to be about nostalgia and community. We do not intend to be a political instance, but will not tolerate bashing of minorities of any kind.

            Civil, in our mind, means act like a decent human being with at least a baseline of respect for other people - no matter the background.

              The issue is that Rimu is implementing these biases in code, as in, anyone that installs piefed, cannot see dbzero, anarchist.nexus, etc… from both demo instances, to importing posts. He is taking his code politically, and charging innocent installers with his biases. I do not want that affecting retrofed, and other naïve installers.

              We will not tolerate bigotry, transphobia, homophobia or other uncivilities. We want these instances to be about nostalgia and community. We do not intend to be a political instance, but will not tolerate bashing of minorities of any kind.

              Then please have a link expanding this definition to both instances, so joiners do not confuse it with bigotted civilities. I’ve experienced apartheid civilities by FHF. They do not mind genocide if my skin has melanin. They don’t seem to mind trans Zionists at the least.

                All default blocks and defederations have been altered during initial setup.

                I wrote the rules early on when I just started retrolemmy, and thought it wouldn’t need clarification, since civility in my mind includes intolerance of bigotry of any kind. But if you feel this is important, we will alter this for more clarification.

                  I do feel it is more imperative than ever, as nations around the world are twisting what it means to be civil. Comrades of mine don’t even use the word “civil” for “decency.” Where I live, it is “civil” to drag trans people off toilets and assult us. That is no “decency” I want to be part of. This is primarily why we make the distinction, as we do not want to be associated with bigotry.

        The only piece of software I’m familiar with in that comment is Pylova 😅. Sorry, I’m not really in the know or a web dev myself. If you felt like ELI5 what it means to Jabberize Pylova etc I’m all ears. After unruffled’s comment I’ll be moving the community. Do you think I should wait for your wife’s promising developments or just move to our home instance, Quokk.au ? I don’t have free time until next week at the earliest anyways.

    But also, you didn’t rebuke me, I wasnt even aware of that comment until somebody notified me about this post and I followed the link above. Usually when you rebuke someone, you reprimand them directly. That was just you talking ill of me in a completely random thread with 14 upvotes that I obviously never would have seen unless I was stalking your comment history. But you’re clearly trying to paint a certain picture with this post, so I understand why you phrased it that way.

    Regarding my ban for transphobic comments, I’d just like to note that the comments in question were in defense of statements made by Nutomic. So whatever judgments you make about me and my server should logically apply to lemmy.ml as well. Let’s also keep in mind that the comments were not made on a dbzer0 community, but they decided to blanket permaban me regardless. Here is the thread in question.

    Also, you can see that I never did anything about this user. The name of this community has become so ironic it’s wild. I’m quite possibly the least power tripping moderator on Lemmy, you can literally tell me to kill myself and you won’t even get banned.

    Lastly, I’d like to encourage all of the users who upvoted this post and commented here, as well as OP, to reassess what just happened. You’re passing sweeping moral judgments and making significant decisions based on “information” that is purely imaginary. You aren’t even doing the bare minimum of diligence to verify whether the post that you are reading is actually true. The actual evidence is non-existent, and even the circumstantial evidence makes very little sense if you think about it for a second.

    I know you’ll probably just call me a liar but maybe somebody will actually re-evaluate their behavior for once. I bear no ill will towards you or anyone, I simply try to identify what I believe to be true, and fight back against people when they spread falsehoods. One of those falsehoods was when people were calling Nutomic transphobic, and I thought that was untrue. Now I’m banned for being transphobic. Surely you can figure out how this chain of events ends, with an echo chamber where anyone who questions the narrative is immediately exiled. It’s not a wise course of action, IMHO.

      Trans women are women, and they should be allowed to identify as such, fully participate in women’s sports, have use of women’s restrooms and other facilites, and be able to join women’s organisations. Do you agree with this comment or not?

      Thank you for linking the threads/comments in question. Our eyes aren’t seeing the same things somehow, when it comes to Nutomic, but I’m far less charitable in judgement when it comes to tankies. Or those who willingly work alongside them or excuse their bullshit as you are doing. There’s reason I moved account to Piefed from SJW (because it uses Lemmy software and because of who develops* it, not due to any SJW specific drama) and there’s Rimu reasons I dumped Piefed for Pylova. Would I consider you yourself transphobic just based on this? No, but I see why others do. Apologist? Yes. Will I move communities? I’ll sleep on it and see what the other responses to you say too.
