And billionaire Trump donor Elon Musk – who is overseeing the administration’s controversial effort to rapidly shrink the federal government – has criticized ActBlue, seeking to tie it to protests and acts of vandalism against his electric-vehicle company Tesla. He has argued, without evidence to substantiate his claims, that some prominent Democrats – including one who died in 2019 – were funding ActBlue and the protests.
“Something stinks about ActBlue,” Musk posted earlier this month on his social media platform, X.
“Asshole who spent a fortune buying an election suddenly worried about money in politics. Film at 11.”
something stinks
That’s coming from your shorts, you fucked up penial implant having, ketamine snorting nazi fuck.
Actually it’s coming from pootins shorts word on the street is he recently fell down some steps and shat himself
The big problem with ActBlue is that you donate once, to one specific candidate, and you suddenly get an onslaught of donation requests from everyone under the sun and sending “STOP” doesn’t stop it.
I just route it all to my spam and blocked folder.
I’ve stopped donating for this very reason.
Well that, and the Democrats have the audacity to repeatedly spam me for donations while flailing their arms and acting like nothing can be done about the current administration.
Democrats share their lists whenever each other are in tight races. It’s annoying that you end up getting perma-spammed, but I do think ActBlue is providing a good service. They’re kinda shooting themselves in the foot because unsolicited emails get flagged as spam and most email providers use crowdsourced spam detect.
With all the money in politics now, and the fact that the campaigns with the most cash behind them almost always win, our representatives don’t have to be answerable to voters any longer. They just have to be answerable to the people spending the most cash.
Even then, the corporations and foreign entities that fund most of the campaigns right now just throw their cash behind the winners if the person they initially supported loses.
In the minds of people like Leon, you can literally buy elections simply by outspending the candidate you don’t like–and, looking at the statistics, he’s right. Then, even if they lose, they just chuck a bunch of money at the winning candidate. These people have no ethics, no respect for law, and they would rather destroy our institutions than have them work against them. And, unfortunately, they’re so wealthy now that they can, in fact, destroy our institutions.
Cool that you elevated a subjective quote by noted partisan liar Elon Musk into your title CNN.
With the levels of dissatisfaction with Dems, does it even matter? Isn’t it time to form a progressive party and splinter off?
A progressive party would be doomed from the start, the dichotomy of us politics is an issue of inertia not party availability. Unless both parties splinter simultaneously how could it possibly be successful? You think the american people are generally progressive? Look at this last election!
Nobody has offered a progressive choice iyn that level. Progressives speak to the working class as do populists, there are Bernie bros who joined the Trump train.
Bernie Bros aren’t progressive. That’s why they’re Bernie Bros.
challenging? sure, but if there were ever conditions for the viable split it would be now. Progressives could splinter Democrats enough for mainstream dems take notice. What’s needed is a desire to make it happen and a few capable leaders to unite folks behind the idea… AOC and Bernie may be able to pull it off but haven’t indicated any desire yet
It may work out in the long term, but the next few elections after a split (assuming there are elections) are going to be purely conservative. Blame this fucking 2p fptp system.
system’s gotta go for sure
There’s no need for that. Progressives can assume control of the Democratic party. That’s how it’s supposed to work in the first place.
They don’t. Because no one wants to sit in boring meetings outside their house. And no one wants to go through the invasive procedure of running for office.
And here we are. With the only progressives who can stand to do that already in the party that’s been plagued by idiot consultants - who don’t even act in official capacity - giving them losing advice for 40 years.
Taking over Dems is next to impossible for progressives as entrenched elite is backed by “big money” and is effective at torpedoing progressives every time. Take big money out of politics and you may have a chance at overtaking party, otherwise - screwed
Yes but I’m not talking about running against them in an election - I’m talking about working with the local chapter to become chairperson and moving on to state. Driving change in a proper way - in incremental, boring ways that add up.
Do that. It’s “free” in that corporate big money isn’t in play (although politics is - that’s the mysterious thing most people who have no experience with it can’t fathom.)
If a person can’t work with the local Dems for -reasons-, then join or start the Independent party locally and win elections. If somebody thinks that can’t happen, they’re not a good choice anyway. Dream. Do. Vote.
Here’s the thing, in less than 2 years we’re going to be at midterms and all the “lefties” will be shitting on the Democrats again (rightly or wrongly, it doesn’t matter at that point), handing yet another election to the fascists and then spending the next two years not doing anything either.
What are people waiting for? Leadership. One doesn’t need to lead the country, one doesn’t need to lead the state, one doesn’t even need to lead the local council, but people do need to show up if they want to participate. Or, y’know, don’t. Where most of us are now.
I have experience participating in local chapter for a party, but when you get some ideas pushed to a party congress and get it squashed because it’s being controlled by the people opposing the change it kind of turns you off.
This is the latest email the Harris team sent out. I have no idea why they think Trump et al would ever be “impressed” by any number.
"In just a few days, the DNC closes the books on the most important FEC fundraising deadline since the last election.
When this deadline ends, they are legally required to report how much money they’ve raised. The number of donations they’ve received will also be public.
Everyone will be watching: the press, the Trump administration, and more.
They’re looking to see how much grassroots enthusiasm there is for stopping Trump’s agenda, and these numbers are a big part of that.
If they file a big report with lots of donations, Republicans will know they’ll face stiff opposition when Congress tries to pass Trump’s tax cuts for billionaires, paid for by cuts to lifesaving programs.
If the DNC files a weak report, then the Trump administration and the press will see there’s no pushback to what they’re trying.
So this is a big deal. And it’s why the DNC is hoping for lots and lots of donations before this deadline ends."
I mean. Fundraising is fundraising. Have you ever been around it? It’s weird. I don’t understand it. But I do understand what Ketamine Elmo is trying to do.
Yeah, he’s trying to declare any fundraising done by democrats as “fraud.” What I’m saying is that Kamala and the DNC are once again completely out of touch, thinking the original rules are still in place and we’re playing the same game we were 10 or 20 years ago. They could raise all the money in the world and it would not matter. The bigger the number, the louder Elon will yell fraud. Reality doesn’t exist anymore.
I don’t disagree, but fundraising emails are emails they send all the time to raise funds. They do it on a train, they do it on a plane, they do it here and there, they do it everywhere. That by itself isn’t really remarkable that they’re asking for money and the reason of the day is “let’s show trump whatever whatever”. I don’t think that proves much.
The fact that only AOC and Bernie have made waves by holding rallies to specifically say “let’s stop this bullshit” is what’s damning the rest of them. If Harris wants another bite, she’s going to need to lead that soon and well.
Actually, for that matter - ANYONE is going to need to lead that soon and well, and it can’t be Bernie because he said it isn’t. If it’s AOC, great, let’s see some support for her.
It’s a Good Thing Democrats are doing EVERYTHING President Musk wants! It’s NOT backfiring at ALL!
Or
I AGREE with the Billionaire who spent a QUARTER OF A BILLION DOLLARS BUYING the US Presidency!
The future of campaigning will be mutual aid potlucks and soup kitchens, not billion dollar concert tours. Well at least for some of us.
