A significant many conservatives love Ai cause it’ll replace immigrants but a lot of us see the writing on the wall the tech is overhyped garbage that’ll crash soon in the next few years and cause the economy to go down with it, however, let’s say that Ai and robotics manage to reach a level of automation where they’re able to replace human workers, obviously this would have negative implications for people that want to migrate but it would also hurt the countries citizens since they will and probably are, going to be forced out of the earning a wage, leaving entire portions of society jobless I don’t know which scenario is worse a recession unlike anything we’ve seen or a society where most people are jobless either way conservatives are dooming their country and people just to “own” brown people it’s almost comedic

Difference between the irrationality of private individuals acting according to their own interests vs the rationality of economic planning according to a common plan. Tech billionaires with the most influence all just seek to increase their own profits without any overall plan of how to actually expand the AI infrastructure, so they rush entirely in one direction, which we are already seeing shortages in some areas because of this. China has the benefit that they can make sure things are developing more uniformly at a reasonable rate because there is planning authorities that can coordinate enterprises together with a nation-wide vision.

Tech billionaires with the most influence all just seek to increase their own profits without any overall plan of how to actually expand the AI infrastructure

They have a plan. It is to serve their class interests: siphon off resources through ownership of wealth. The wealth in this case is owning the data centers that provide the AI that automates the work. Charging rent for using AI means they control the infrastructure. Works out for them (not for the users).

They have the closed source models trained on data that they collected by vacuuming up what was online. Those models are so large that you need NVIDIA GPUs to run them at those big data centers (which also need the supporting power grid).

This is just the next big tech money grab. It was cryptocurrency before, and before that it was social media platforms. Somewhere in between there was 3D TV and augmented reality glasses.

AI bros are trying to scam the end user. They should only collect this rent if the tool saves people some money. If it costs you more to use than the work you avoided paying for, then there’s no benefit to paying for AI. They need user engagement right now to lock you in, so you can’t get off the hype train.

I’m not convinced as you are that US ruling class has that much collective solidarity with one another. As I see it, most are just seeking their own self-interest, which is leading to clashes because their interests are not aligning.

You can see this for example how there is a DRAM shortage because the AI companies are using too much of it, but then the DRAM companies also refuse to increase DRAM production because they are afraid the AI bubble will pop leaving them with a surplus that will drive down prices. The DRAM companies are not on board with the AI companies and their interests are conflicting. The AI companies also have more influence in the government right now because the US thinks it is in an “AI race,” and so even energy companies are being overlooked, so AI is getting more investments than energy causing energy to lag behind as well.

This to me doesn’t seem like a coherent plan by the bourgeoisie to work in class solidarity with one another towards the same goal. It seems to me like every individual big tech corporation is seeking to maximize their own profits independently of one another, which is leading to a disorganized mess without a coherent vision.

There’s enough of a collaboration between big tech companies like Oracle, Microsoft, NVIDIA, OpenAI etc. to call it a collective action. You don’t need unanimous consent from every capitalist.

Just because DRAM is one sector where they haven’t got a commitment, doesn’t mean they aren’t going to try automate away office work and charge rent to businesses.
