Alternative Nation: The Fediverse's Alternative and Indie Music Community@lemmy.world•Lush - Black Spring EP [7 October 1991]
1·16 days agoI think that I first noticed them the year before this EP. The songs De-luxe and Sweetness and Light. It would have been on a radio show I listened to that specialised in UK “indie”. I do also remember being knocked out by the video for Nothing Natural on a late night music video show.

3·2 months agoIn a comment on one of the videos in that channel, someone asked what was used to make the song and the “creator” reply was Suno, which I discovered is an AI music generator.
IMO, it’s disingenuous to not label the channel as AI generated, for a start. On top of that, I personally don’t think that AI music should be encouraged anyway. There is more than enough music created by real humans who deserve recognition for their talent.

Alternative Nation: The Fediverse's Alternative and Indie Music Community@lemmy.world•Hum, by kisses [Indie Folk Rock]
2·3 months agoThanks @phant@lemmy.world. I queued it up this morning and listened to the album. Although I tend towards more up-beat stuff at the moment…the kind of gentle melancholia that kisses exhibits is definitely something that sits well within my historic listening radar.
Do you know Roller One? Not the same thing, country overtones, but also some nice melancholia.
As requested by @arbilp3@aussie.zone, OP of this post.
Also, here is the The Juice Media’s take on it:
This type of account seems fishy to me. It’s not the only one of its type. e.g https://aussie.zone/u/SilentStriker@piefed.social

Alternative Nation: The Fediverse's Alternative and Indie Music Community@lemmy.world•Radio Free Alice - Toyota Camry [2025]
2·1 year agoSome of their listed influences are Talking Heads, The Cure, The Smiths, The Sunny Boys, Parquet Courts, Ought and The Strokes. I would say they sound quite English, so London might be just the place for them.

I’ve just realised that if my dad recommended an equivalent record to me in 1991, it would have been something like Sammy Davis Jr. WTF.
