We tried this in 2017. Trump put tariffs on dishwashers, and American companies just raised their prices to match, pocketing the difference.

This was tried under Trump the first time and it was an abject failure.

Trump’s tariffs raised the price of foreign made dishwashers by 20%. American manufacturers also jacked up the cost of their appliances, in order to match that price that customers were paying. As a result there was no incentive to change consumer behavior and there was no boost in “buying American.”

The problem is:

• RFK wants to ban legal medications and his multiple other statements make it clear he thinks organic food can replace them. That’s creating clear harms for people.
• He may envision this as a voluntary commune but in reality once he has government backing these could be something non consensual. We already have NYPD forcing people into homeless shelters involuntarily. It’s worrisome coming from an openly authoritarian administration.

Yes! Wellness farms that turn out to be corrupt places of forced labor and secretly growing drugs that they push into the community.

Voluntary, as in NYPD saying you’ll be arrested if you don’t voluntarily go into their overcrowded bedbug homeless shelter?

This is not as benign as you think. RFK already thinks vaccines annd prescribed meds are child abuse.

They’re angry and looking for an easy scapegoat. Even though it’s obviously the wrong one. We all knew Trump was worse, which is why Mehdi Hasan and many others were pleading with Biden to please change course because he was destroying his re-election by his own hand. Biden overruled his advisors and the state department and pressed forward on an unpopular policy in hopes he could get republicans to vote for him and it failed. He undermined his own foreign policy and ruined his own career.

Nope. The point was to pressure Biden to listen to his advisors and do the moral and correct and even politically popular thing and he refused.

People ignore that Biden’s policy was simply indefensible. He fought his own party, he fought his advisors and the media and he STILL lost the election. There’s no longer a need to carry water for him.

Everyone in north Gaza will be dead or deported before new years. That will be complete before Trump even takes office. How can you still pretend Biden is somehow better when the outcome is the same?

Don’t insult my intelligence; the US provides nearly all the weapons Israel is using on Gaza. Unlike Ukraine they are receiving them with zero preconditions and Biden bypassed Congress twice to give them more weapons despite the documented war crimes. Blinken signed off on bombing aid convoys into Gaza and was caught lying to Congress about it. Biden himself scolded Russia and Iran by saying that anyone who gives weapons is equally guilty for the civilian deaths as the army that uses them on civilians. A billion dollar pledge is useless if none of the aid is allowed in and the aid convoys are bombed.

Biden made a choice to block ceasefires and put his trust in Netanyahu who was a known liar.

But this is all a digression; you’re STILL glossing over all of Biden’s failures with “but Trump!” The election is over, you can feel free to criticize Biden now for his screwups. It’s probably the best time to since everyone was saying that we had to shut up about our problems because it was helping Trump earlier.
