yea exactly, but generally the people I met at school were more into “destroying” others than actually teaching you how to play
I was always pretty bad at chess. I usually got “hyped” for 2-3 days (sometimes longer) and then immediately dropped it afterwards. My elo on chess com is now 300-something and I haven’t played in few years
I also disliked chess because in my high school there was an extremely competetive atmosphere around it and I felt discouraged to join


Not surprising. Drug addiction and mental health problems are unfortunately one of the least ugly things that happens in the ukrainian military. The Events in Ukraine blog on substack regularly documents torture, beatings and death in the army/mobilization centres
