How do you have a SmartGrid if the nodes aren’t able to communicate with each other or log data?

YouTube…that reminds of a conversation I had here on Lemmy a while back. The subject of right wing political content on YouTube came up and I had the same “I don’t encounter that” comment that I just made in regards to Mastadon.

After a bit of back and forth I realized that I don’t engage with political content of any type on YT so the algorithm doesn’t push it at me. It seems that YT doesn’t do a good job of classifying political content as to its lean. So once you start engaging with political content the algorithm starts suggesting all kinds of it.

It’s the same with social justice and racial issues. I don’t engage with that kind of content on YT or Mastadon, don’t see it my feeds, and it’s not being pushed at me by the algorithm.

I don’t know if that explains it completely but there has to be some reason(s) why some of us don’t see this stuff while other people see it all the time.

Like you I’m confused at the continual cries of racism on Mastadon. I’ve been on there for months and never seen it. That doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist but I’m confused as to how it is “full of racists/white supremacists” but I never bump into them or see it.

I don’t want to doubt anyone’s experience but I’m at a loss to explain why my feed is so different from other peoples.

This is one reason Western nations ripped out Chinese 5G network appliances a couple years ago.

They were supposed to but here in the US as of mid-2024 some 40% of them hadn’t yet done so. I wonder how far the RotW has gotten with it.

I haven’t seen it discussed but I do wonder if this is at the root of the Telco hack the US experienced / is still experiencing.

Edit: The EU nations are very much a mixed bag and some of the largest EU countries, such as Germany, not only still have Huawei gear in their 5G networks but it doesn’t have to be removed until the end of 2026!

Habits in general have nothing to do with “productive workers”. Literal children in socialist societies can care about their habits such as brushing their teeth or being to the breakfast table on time. A teen may consciously decide to install in themselves a habit of reading one chapter of a book every day. A new religious convert may work to create a habit of praying 3 times a day.

People, even children, can also decide to work to unlearn habits. The new atheist that works to stop praying 3 times a day, the dad who decides to stop the “bad habit” of smoking, the child who stops the habit of bugging their parents for a toy every time they are at the store.

So I think you need to back up and work out why you believe habits, good or bad, only relate to work as it doesn’t seem to be true.

You forget who those Armed American Civilians virtually ALL voted for.

Don’t believe the hype, there’s plenty of Armed American Civilians who didn’t vote for that guy. They are not the real majority they are just noisy.

What is Bubba going to do with his Ford and his AR when a fuckin’ tank rolls down the middle of 23rd Avenue?

Where is the fuel coming from to keep that tank rolling and how is it getting there?

How about when a drone hits his buddy with three fingers and all the pipe bombs?

Where does that drone operator live? Where are the parts for that drone coming from, how are they getting there, and who is assembling them?

The US Military runs on logistics and those logistics chains are entirely dependent on civilians playing along. This is why true Civil Wars are Nation Breakers.

I honestly fear that our military will do something like this.

Your fear is overblown. The US Military would get chewed up and spit out by Armed American Civilians. We outnumber them by at least 50 to 1 and there would be nowhere for them to retreat too in between engagements. Their logistics would be entirely cutoff and they wouldn’t even be able to go home because their neighbors (at least some of them) would be waiting.

They could try but realistically it would be over (in most places) in like two weeks.

Depends on the reason. If’s a clear and justifiable one then I’ll try and help, otherwise I’ll do what the authorities are requesting.

No idea what your talking about. I live at 6,000 feet in a place with low humidity and the popcorn button on my microwave works perfectly.

Community search could be improved.

This isn’t a community search problem. I absolutely should NOT have to intentionally visit every single niche community that I am already subscribed too.

The USER needs a way to control their feed, either by throttling large communities or boosting smaller ones.
