This kind of crap is so common. I’m an old notepad coder, but I’ve worked on modern sites where the code is all modules you load from some dev kit. You don’t write that shit, you call it up. And now we have vibe coders who are even further removed from the actual electrons. You can expect that your data is exposed out there somewhere.
When my guys were doing this stuff, I brought in Google Analytics so we could analyze users’ pathway through the site and tune its effectiveness. It was a truly useful tool that took us beyond what web logs could tell us. The job happened to be a school. With FERPA requirements. My GA work got audited. I passed.
