Should I save a kid drawning in some lake, you would probably agree that I did a moraly good action.

Should there be a rich guy in a wheel chair on the side of the lake, who, before I save the kid, tells me that if I save the kid he would give me a million dollars, and else he would use that money to find me back and have my legs cut off. You would probably tell me that it is a very cheap million dollars, and that people with no morality would save the kid too even just for half that amount ; so while still not wrong, it is not a “good moral” action in this case.

Therefore, should I believe a god look at me and judge me, rewarding me with an eternal heaven of happiness, and threatening me with an eternal hell, there is no way I could ever do any “good moral” action.

And so morality only exists out of religion.

Christianity moved towards Zionazi chosen people genocidal supremacism in the 2nd century with “every word in the bible is true, but first chronologicaly is more true”. Codified by Constantine and first roman pope in 4th century as “Jesus and god are coequal matter”. In 70AD, the roman Jupiter worshippers declared themselves the new chosen people for destroying the 2nd temple. This got extended to Roman Catholics quickly. Trinity would later reject anyone’s conscience being able to question the Church and its empire maximalism. American Lutherism made up manifest destiny under same principle.

So, the only morals permitted under religion are allegiance to the Emperor and their military ambitions. Moses right to genocide/steal is more true than, the therefore irrelevant, “do onto others as you wish done onto you”

Morality exists without God or Religion. It’s universal. Cash, or lack thereof, fucks around with all that on both sides.

That is not really how it works, at least in Christianity. If you read the bible cover-to-cover, you see that 90% of it is “you already know what is right or wrong, just act accordingly” until god just gives up after a couple of centuries and destroys isreal. Then Jesus comes along and again says “you already know what is right or wrong, please just act accordingly” but instead the people crucify him. Then of course the infamous Paul comes along and I believe that is the moment God abandoned us, because Paul keeps on blabbering how you should not give money to church, unless it is him, how woman are not supposed to talk etc. while he is in prison all the time.

In fairness to Paul, most of the bad stuff comes from the pastoral epistles, which are generally considered by critical scholars to have been written by someone else.

Yes, I wasn’t 100% serious in my previous comment.

People don’t choose religion mostly, they just inherit from their family and convince themselves that it is their decision.

If molecules behave in deterministic fashions, and our brains are made up of molecules, how can free will exist?
