The main thing that frustrates me is that the US due to the electoral collage is a winner take all system so it mostly doesent allow for smaller parties to get any influence.

So for people who want to expend their political capital their main opptions are to vote for one of the two parties that have the possibilety to change things.

Generally (and im saying generally for a reason) the democrats are better than the republicans. Are they all good? Fuck no! (Also i am aware this is a generalisation instrad of treating each polititian individually) But for alot of people having a democratic victory is better .

The political discorse that discourages people from vote can and will have drastic consequences. E.g. suppreme courte justices. The supreme court is more and more political and one party has appointed justices that have undemined the rule of law. The fact that in prinicple all of the justices appointed by democrats have voted against the measures shows clearly that those changes couls been avoided if more poeple had voted democrat.

Is this me saying “vote blue no matter who?” No! Voters should vote for what they think is best for them and their comunity, but it’s also important to be a realist and understand why people do it, becouse for some it can be life and death.

Would it be better if the majorty of voters voted greens or similair? Yes! But could it be seen as a too large of a risk as it could caus their situations to get worse? Also yes.

My view is that sadly rn the best option the US has is essentially to change the Dem party from the inside. Becouse right now most voters are in a delemma where if not a large enough population suddently swings to a third option they will increase the risk that the openly fascist death cult stays in power.

There are zero redeemable Republicans. All of them deserve the guillotine.

There are a handful of Democrats who pay lip service to trying.

    So, yeah. Incorrect.

      Vote, or bulld a guillotine

Ah yes the classic refrain of libs when the obvious farce of electorialism is critiqued: “Ok then start a revolution RIGHT NOW!” or “Okay then go out and kill all rich people yourself this very instance!!”

Somehow you understand the concept of long-term thinking when it comes to kicking the can down the road, but not when it comes to trying anything else.

I’m not a Lib, lol! But staying home doesn’t work - and telling people to do so just promotes apathy. Then we end up with fascists in power and friends being rounded up. I’ll choose the lesser of two evils every fucking time when given a choice - especially when the 3rd option is to just sit on my ass at home.

There are many other options besides sitting on your ass at home… is that what you do every other day of the year that isn’t voting day?

Also I’d like to add that democrats literally rounded up some of my friends thru ICE. It’s no different when Obama/Biden/Harris does it than when Trump does, Midwest (typically Mexican midwesterners) regularly gets hit super hard by ICE raids no matter who is president.

True - but the quote didn’t say “go do stuff in the community, spread awareness, lead thru example!” it said “don’t bother voting, and if you do then you’re a class traitor.”

I agree that the Dems /also/ suck. But the degrees of suck matter. It’s similar to equating cancer with the flu - They both suck, but given a choice, I know which I’d prefer.

Even tho you’re banned I’d like to point out that I didn’t imply what you meant, YOU are the one that applied “laziness” to the quote, and then as a response you made up your own version of the quote saying that voting and staying home (“being lazy”) are your only 2 options.

Donate money to REAL local orgs (not DSA), your local food shelf, etc. If you can’t afford money then you can always try to afford the time. Show up and feed some people or put a little bit of money on it, most food shelves have a subscription based thing so you can ditch Prime/HBO and use that money on your food shelf; anonymously or with your name in big big lights, whatever you prefer.

I’m saying anyone listening to his shitty advice is a lazy fuckwit. I don’t know or care who he is - but abstaining from voting is how we end up with fascists and antisocial capitalists in power.

I’d rather be a “class traitor” than see my friends get marginalized and put in cages because I sat on my ass and didn’t vote.

Considering how the US was leading the labor movement in the West during his lifetime, it’s still a problem that you don’t know who he is.

His input clearly wasn’t very effective. The US is basically an openly fascist state at this point, and the only “friends” it acknowledges are Russia and North Korea - so the whole “don’t bother voting” advice seems to be working exactly as well as expected.

This is a fucking stupid take in a country where one straight-down vote maintains the (not-so-great) status quo and the other elects literal child fucking Nazis who are hell-bent on crushing the working class.

Vote local and in primaries if you actually give a shit.

if you’re always one vote away from losing your rights, then you never had any rights to begin with. If you’re always one vote away from electing nazis into power, then your system has always been ran by nazis.
