Empathy for this downtrodden is natural, not so much for the oppressors. Are you suggesting we should have empathy for bigots and racists. If so should we give them equal empathy to someone they abuse and murder. I think you should examine your feelings carefully here because it seems like you are suggesting some kind of bizarre equality in empathy.
A lot of the left wing is nonviolent, but not all. Consider the US has actively expelled and murdered left leaning people and currently condems them as enemies is our reality. You say you want to give people empathy, but it appears the left doesn’t get it from you. I suppose this answers the earlier question and brings a spotlight on your motivations.
