That feature never affected my driving at all and never bothered me at all. In fact I don’t think I ever remembered that it was a thing after the first week or two.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Hummus and peanut butter are close relatives
11·11 hours agoI read it as “because chickpeas and peanuts are both legumes, one could see the comparison, however, since tahini is included, peanuts would not work well as a replacement”

25·2 days agoWho is “they”? Have you by chance seen https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/We_Steal_Secrets:_The_Story_of_WikiLeaks ? iirc we hear directly from some of the women.
I did not come away from watching that thinking Assange is a good dude. Everyone who worked with him and spoke on the doc seemed to think he started off heroic and then became an evil egomaniac after a couple years.

41·2 days agoAwesome. I’m glad people do it occasionally but it really ought to be more often.

412·2 days agoI wasn’t aware that people believe that fascist assange wasn’t guilty. That’s weird.
edit: Are y’all really trying to say there was a conspiracy to assassinate the character of the dude who went far our of his way to get trump elected and also literally caused many afghani deaths with his “fuck it release it all I don’t care about consequences” attitude? I’m not even sure where you’d get that idea from. Everything I know about him seems exactly in line with the accusations against him.

281·2 days agoIt would also help if they would actually stop being cowards and tell him to his face that the world knows he’s lying, that he did make that promise repeatedly. Hardly anyone ever pushes back on this shitbag.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Why I moved my Plex library to Jellyfin after 14 yearsEnglish
12·3 days agoBecause I have friends and family that want access to some of the media I host. It’s a lot easier if I can just give them access and have it just work and whatever device they want to use.

31·3 days agoI don’t know, and honestly that’s the beauty of it. It just works, and while I know every system is vulnerable to attack, I suspect it’s more secure than what I’d setup myself.

31·3 days agoYou may not need Plex to do anything, but it’s kinda disingenuous to say most people can easily and securely set up port forwarding and a DNS service/reverse proxy/etc to keep outside access working.

226·3 days agoI am hoping that jellyfin gets better over the next few years. I keep trying it and it keeps feeling broken to me. Lots of people have the same experience it seems but then there’s also always a few people that act like I’m crazy. Nah, it’s still not there, unless things have changed a lot in the past year.
That’s probably the best way to put it. We used to have a sense of hope here in the US. We could have made things better, raising the global standard. Instead we allowed corporations to poison everything to the point that our leaders are openly evil.

I should honestly copy and paste this comment in so many situations. A vegan flipped out on me yesterday for literally just challenging an absolute statement they made. I should’ve just responded how you did.
