Brad Bradford is pledging to freeze Toronto’s property tax rate for one year if elected mayor.
The mayoral candidate says an independent group would conduct an item-by-item review of city spending.
Bradford says the review would look for waste, duplication and outdated programs while protecting frontline services.
His campaign says the freeze could be funded through recurring gaps between the city’s budgeted and actual property-tax-supported spending.
Wow, one whole year. What an amazing deal.
Toronto had one of the lowest major urban tax rates on the continent. Chow nudged them up to a level still way below average. My parents out in the country pay 2x the property tax rate.
But funny enough Chow is not likely to raise again this term so she could throw water on Brad Bradford and say the same.
Ford nudged them up more accurately.
This guy’s out there saying this will somehow allow us to own homes that are priced over a million dollars. And what’s driving me insane is some people are actually buying that.
Hey, there’s worse. I got some friends who want him instead of Chow because Chow said bad words about Israel. 😅
So the Rob Ford campaign all over again.
Yeah, seriously I’m from Toronto, and the promise of tax cuts and freezes, is the promise of a massive budget hole concealed through creative accounting for 4 years.
And / or privatization and austerity.
