Political science in the US and it’s various vassal states is a very serious academic discipline. I personally witnessed a polsci doctoral student synthesize Anarcho-Zionism-Andriy-Biletsky-Thought within the span of like two paragraphs.
I don’t remember where I heard it but I heard someone say that the average Chinese teenager who goes to school has a better political and material understanding of the world than the average American political science undergraduate student. I haven’t talked to Chinese teenagers but I have talked to American political “scientists” and I have no trouble believing that claim.
All you have to do is spend time on Chinese social media to discover that this sadly isn’t true. US PoliSci undergrads are definitely just being steeped in propaganda but teenagers are kind of all the same everywhere. They’re tired and they wanna watch some TV and take a nap.
When it comes to political education, most Chinese teens mostly just know basic parts of the curriculum which are tested on. That’s mostly national history, some basic terminology, and some national achievements. From talking to both average Chinese and a few committed Communist educators it really seems actual Marxist fundamentals are a subject that doesn’t have great knowledge retention compared to math or language skills.

That makes sense considering the whole point of the Political Science education is imparting permanent psychic damage.

Yeah, however sincere you think his newfound anti-imperialist geopolitical “enlightenment” is, in terms of his economic views Sachs is still an unrepentant and unreformed liberal. He praises Poland’s systematic destruction of socialism and reveres Gorbachev as his hero.
And he wasn’t just involved in Russia in the Yeltsin era, he was already there and meddling in the last years of the Soviet Union.

he predates yeltsin, but this is otherwise true – he’s useful because he’s a well known pro-us-empire voice that’s fallen out of favor w them and speaks the truth about ukraine.
I think there are ulterior motives for it, one of them is restoring relations with Russia and isolating China. He is not the only pro-empire voice who seeks this objective.
You can’t be an expert on something when you only study half the material.
