Her reputation preceded her. As Bourne approached the lectern for public comment — shouting about “healthy, whole women!” — scores of district-area teachers got up from their seats and walked out of the meeting.
Bourne went ballistic.
“Ask those teachers to stop interrupting my comment!” she shouted at the meeting chair. “I want my time back! I want my time back!”

Ah, there’s the rub. Her oldest child is trans and she just couldn’t accept it. The article linked in the quote is very interesting and gives a lot more context.
It truly is what Yoda said: Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering.
I seriously don’t understand that. If my kid came out as trans, bi, ace or what the hell ever, I’d still love them. I can’t imagine NOT loving them.
They’re still doing the fucking dishes though.
Hurt people hurt people.
I believe this in my core and will take it to my grave
I mean yeah but it’s just so dumb to be hurt by your kid coming out as trans idk
Dumb to us.
There’s so many complexities at play of which I don’t think any of us can assume to know.
It’s a shame regardless.
I’m sorry but comments like these are why we’re at where we’re at in my opinion.
Yes, hurt people hurt people, but that isn’t an excuse. If you violate the social contract, you lose the right to participate in the privileges of said social contract.
At what point to we stop giving these people passes for the sheer amount of violence and vitriol they put into this world?
If the majority of society finds this woman fucking stupid as hell, then I’d say it’s safe to assume, she’s stupid as fucking hell and this we deal with her appropriately.
Everyone has a right to an opinion, but that right doesn’t exclude you from the consequences of being a fucking moron.
Prejudice isn’t a “complexity”. It’s a lack of any subtlety or complexity: “X people era bad regardless of anything and that’s final”. Regardless even of being your own child.
Trust me, I understand wanting to make excuses for people and wanting to believe that there’s a little good in everyone but sometimes there just isn’t.
be interesting to read an interview with her daughter.
Did you read the SacBee article? It’s not explicitly an interview with her child, but the reporter obviously quoted them extensively.
She can be a crazed suffering wreck in jail but she has no business trying to lead anything. Bitch is actively hurting kids through discourse
These are the kinds of people who make me actively cram down my own personal squeamishness surrounding the subject to actively try to be a better person towards trans and intergender people and anyone else who is non-binary.
Our civilization could be so much better without hate. Especially when it’s over variations of conception or development. People can’t do a damn thing about it – as an AuDHD person myself, I know. I wish there was a pill that could utterly eliminate all symptoms of my ADD, but there isn’t.
Thankyou for acknowledging the ‘squeamishness’, better still being a good person and recognising it as whait is.
And that is literally all what it is - a physical squeamishness. That’s it. And no, a firm, professional business handshake doesn’t trigger it.
And I see two people going nookie on each other, I’ll yell at them to get a room no matter what the combination. I don’t need to see your tentacle-tongues in action, much less anything more risqué.
Same, that’s why i dont get these people. I get it, queerness is not my preference, i also dont like pineapple on pizza. The solution is simple, i can just choose not to eat pineapple pizza and let other people eat whatever the hell they want.
If more of humanity could adopt this simple piece of philosophy, our entire civilization would be so much better off.
