Thickness of the fabric. I have very light, breathable material for the hottest times, heavier ones as it gets cooler. I don’t think any of my shorts are that different in length. If they were longer, they’d stop being shorts.
Well they make shorts that vary from booty shorts to below the knee…
12 inch thick booty shorts. They’re called “hot pants” for a reason. The reason is the insulation. 😌
