You know I was going to write this big huge thing, but after reading your last paragraph I see you don’t want to take it further. But thanks, you have confirmed for me that the only reason some leftists support China and Russia is because these countries are supposed to be socialist, and not because of any measurable quality of life standards such as wealth, life expectancy, education, freedom of the press, political representation, and so on.
In real life, Russia and China are defacto capitalist oligarchies. I think I’ll never support the corruption and oppression such governments propogate to uphold an ideology.
