It still sucks i want to work my work hours that’s why i took this job, i dont want to have to miss a day for a routine appointment, i want my pto for fun things, not errands that feel like work but i dont get paid.
Again, that’s a labor law thing though. You absolutely should not need to use PTO for a doctor/dental appointment. In most countries in Europe, that doesn’t use your PTO… you just get a doctor’s note and you get paid. There aren’t even a set number of days. You just get it written off.
I do get the pain, but I think there are more societal benefits to having common days and times off for most jobs though (obviously not possible for all).
Well here the pto and medical time off is all the same thing, which i think is a good thing. I dont need a doctors note, they don’t need to know if i was sick or not.
They don’t get any details at all. In fact they don’t even know you’re sick. A doc can write you out if you are a family caregiver and the person you’re caring for is sick, for example. Employer gets none of this information, just the dates you’re excused for.
