It happens to me fairly often. Usually, it’s with food I find less than appetizing, but it’s not bad by any means. I think the problem stems from the fact that I cooked for about 8 years for my job. There was a lot of standing and eating, tasting dishes as I went, cooking food that I was never going to eat while I was hungry, etc…

Does anyone else share this problem?

Maybe you’re not a good cook?

    j/k

Anyway, I’ve certainly had it happen. And also spent a lot of time working in kitchens. I think the two are related. Maybe try learning a new style of cuisine? I got into Indian cooking earlier this year. It’s been nice learning new things I don’t associate with work.

Yea that might have something to do with it as well, as I mentioned in another comment I just ordered some yellow thai curry because it’s my comfort food, I might try to pick that up or Indian food does sound nice. Chicken vindaloo…uuuuuugh.

I saw the nose desensitization thing too and it’s something I never considered. I will definitely try that next time I cook something and lose my appetite after standing in front of the stove for half an hour smelling everything.
