    Renewables generate nearly half of the EU’s electricity, but only around 20 percent of total energy use. Getting that percentage up requires electrifying everything that currently uses direct fossil fuels — cars, heating, industry and so on.

    Well…no. You generate the other 50% of electricity from renewables, getting you to 40% of overall energy. What’s left you power with the fossil fuels you no longer burn for electricity. You still drop your fossil fuel usage by 25%.

    I’m simplifying for sure, but Cars and Industry are transitioning already. Heating is hard, but we have tech. It just needs to be rolled out in a way that doesn’t put the bird on on the that can’t afford it.
