"Liberal: How can you go to bed at night after promoting violence? I get that they’re Nazis but it’s still violence.
Me:"
Bellow is an image of Homer Simpson asleep, tucked in to a cosy looking bed with a big contented smile on his face.
Bash the fasc
They’re trying to label antifa as a terrorist org. Think about that for a second.
Edit: thanks to @flicker@lemmy.dbzer0.com it’s come to my attention that this is not widely covered. Link to the bill is below

fucking morons. antifa is a concept, not a “org” like the proud pussy boys
the bad thing is they can label anyone they want as “antifa” then detain them without any actual charges.
“that’s illegal!!!”
yea. and?
habeas corpus, due process, “innocent until proven guilty” – bid farewell to all that, and anything else that was protecting you from them and not the other way around
Pretty sure “innocent until proven guilty” has been out the window for decades. How many people are currently locked up before their trial? I can name at least one.
What boggles my mind is, I can’t find any articles talking about it. I had to read the actual document submitted to Congress.
It’s complicity in the media is what it is.
This is the big problem with centrist media fact checkers: paltering doesn’t count towards the tallying of deceptions.
They don’t want to be seen as sympathetic in any way to scary terrorist antifa. The mainstream media is compromised.
These fuckers in the new regime are trying to go after NPR for fuck’s sake, which if anything sanewashed Trump extensively. Just reporting the words he said is not biased.
be safe people
mask up
gloves
leave your phone at home
and ffs don’t post about it --anywhereIf you’re organizing use E2E comms and if you’re researching use Tor Browser. Better yet use a Tails USB on a coffee shop wifi.

And don’t communicate over email, even encrypted email.
Burner phone bought with cash set to auto upload to somewhere untraceable. After you are far away and safe.
If can’t afford that and feel you need to document, disable all location tracking on your phone and put it in airplane mode. Do not take it out of airplane mode unless there is an extreme emergency. Not even wifi allowed. Disable all biometric unlock. Make a long PIN and memorize it, don’t write it down. Keep the phone locked or set it up to lock with one click in case it is taken from you.
Just in total agreement here about everything else but we need proof.
If you feel you need to document, just bring a camera. Doesn’t matter if it’s a DC-G9, or a point-and-shoot from Walmart, it’s a simple matter to strip meta info from images. If the federal government really wanted to track who was at a protest, they could probably figure out who bought a “burner” phone, even if you used cash. Those cheap phones still upload a vast amount of tracking data, and even if you turn off location tracking, it’s still on and working because Google doesn’t allow you to turn off location for their services. So even with it turned off, you can still be caught with a geofence warrant.

Violence against Nazi isn’t violence, it’s exercising your civic duty.
Punch a local nazi today!
Nazi lives dont matter
Nonviolence is a social agreement. If you don’t promote violence against others, neither will I promote violence against you.
Since that premise doesn’t hold for Nazis, the conclusion doesn’t restrain me either.
“just leave fascism to fester and spread until it requires another world war, that’s much less violent”
Makes total sense.
Makes total sense.
It does, when you realise they’re confident enough in their privilege to believe (often rightfully) that a world war won’t impact them personally.
Copypasting this comment I copied from lemmy a couple months ago.
Sorry OP I can’t remeber who you are.“One of the core tenants of neoliberal education is that violence is always wrong, it’s never the answer, etc. They repeat it so often and in so many places because it’s at obvious odds with the state. They use violence against us so often and on such wide scales that their only option is to convince that it’s not violence.
Over producing with limited resources is violence. Throwing away food while people starve is violence. Leaving buildings empty while people die of the cold on the street is violence. Preventing the sick and dying from accessing healthcare is violence. Evicting people from their homes is violence. Depriving the chronically ill and physically disabled of the means of survival because they can’t generate capital for capitalists is violence. Climate change is violence.
The truth is that they deeply fear what we would do if we actually recognized all those things as violence. They do literally everything in their power to prevent us from achieving class consciousness. They have infected literally every single facet of society in an effort to keep us from seeing each other as human.”

I can see why you saved that, that’s very well said.
I roll my eyes real hard when moderates oversimplify to just “violence”. As if genocide and defense against genocide are morally equivalent in the slightest.
It’s a coward’s way to sound principled while pretending state violence isn’t violence.
The only good authoritarian is a dead one.
