Hey gang, I was hoping I could pick some people’s brains on this. I have a singer rocketeer I’m restoring and part of that is that I replaced the foot pedal with one off an old alco. This inadvertently diagnosed the issue with the alco as being the foot pedal. When you press down, the motor hums but seizes until you get about half way, then it runs at Moc 2 until you ease back.
There any way to fix this or do I just need a new one?

Do you have a multimeter that can handle AC? Or if the pedal unplugs, you might only need to check resistance. You could check if the pedal is smoothly increasing voltage / decreasing resistance, to see if it’s a pedal or motor problem. (Obviously only check AC if you’re comfortable with appropriate precautions.)
That shouldn’t be too hard to pull off, I’ll give it a probe.
