Seems misleading. They didn’t have moss growing outside the station, they had spores in an “exposure” box out there for 9 months, then sent them to earth and were able to grow moss from the spores.
I think the image of the ISS completely covered in moss growing in the vacuum of space conveyed that point well enough, you might be reading to much into it.

thanks for clarifying, that’s a huge distinction vs. moss actually growing as implied by their phrasing and the image.
still cool that the spores survived, but much less remarkable.
Yeah, I agree. The reality is very interesting, so it sucks that they made it sound so much more significant.
