This is so infuriating:
-
money off brand new cars, enabling price gouging for manufacturers and a slight discount for people who can afford a new car.
-
rumor of pay per mile
-
public charging still making 200% profit by selling 25p electricity for 75p, could you imagine the uproar if a garage made 200% on petrol???
Labour are just messing up every potential win so badly.
And taking away or placing a cap on the cycle scheme, which would mean electric bikes that can be used to move the kids to school are no longer covered.
Bikes are less polluting and require a lot less resources to build. They also damage the roads 100,000 or so times less than an electric car. Any subsidy on bikes will go longer than on cars, and provide more value.
The police in my area have an advertising campaign showing all the e-bikes they are confiscating, encouraging people to report their neighbours, and reminding people they are illegal.
They’re only illegal if modified to run faster than the defined legal limits.
But how will the automotive industry cope? They need these subsidies to fuel their profits!
