Being sanctioned by USA nowadays means getting banned from 90% of commercial internet. This is a clear example that being careful is not paranoia but valid precaution.

It’s a small thing but between that and recent CloudFlare/AWS/Azure outages self-hosting feels a lot more like a necessity than something nice to have.

he called on European authorities to activate a mechanism that could limit the impact of US restrictions.

it feels like he doesn’t know that the europeans are vassal states to he us empire.

Until Trump let Elon erase decades of soft power gains with his trashy chainsaw and then imposed unilateral tariffs on our trading partners and threatening to invade allies.

Every EU country has taken initiative to move away from the US, ignoring banking sanctions and fining American tech companies for violation of EU laws are not unlikely.

he definitely did some damage to american soft power, but i suspect his goal was to concentrate it from several agencies into a single one.

that plus very clear indicators like von der leyen’s capitulation to trumps trade demands; macron’s & starmer’s refusal to comply w the arrests warrant for netanyahu; germany and the uk criminalizing support for the palestinians; and the spanish, greek & irish government’s public theater supporting the global sumud flotilla only to betray it at the last second suggests that europe is still doing what the united states wants it to do.
