It was a hallucination.
Interesting take that feels dismissive to me, what about the episode makes you draw that conclusion? It strongly felt to me like her experience was being presented as outside the bounds of what can be measured by science.
Hallucinations often appear quite real to the ones experiencing them.
I think you can even draw a defining distinction there because if it is not believed then pseudohalucination would be the better description.
