  • Bouchard cut healthcare and education to get Quebec to zero deficit , the real damage came later when Charest open the valve for the private sector, this is when the “public part” of the health care system started its downward spiral. Legault opened the valve even more after that… As for Pauline Marois, she created the 5$ daycare(with Bouchard) and expended the drug-insurance system to everyone while she was Premier she also introduced the Parental Insurance Act, which would establish a Quebec plan providing maternity and paternity benefits. As for the universities , they all had their agenda, but Marois did cancelled the planned tuition increases (Charest ) but did simultaneously imposed significant university spending reductions.

The PQ historically made a lot more for the “working class” than any other parties in Canada whether you like it or not. Just look at what Lévesque did in his first years in power: Anti-scab legislation (1977) — Quebec became the first Canadian province to prohibit replacement workers during a legal strike. Minimum wage increases, including a substantial increase shortly after taking office. Pay-equity and labour protections developed during the broader PQ reform period. Public automobile insurance (1978) — replacing private insurance for bodily injury with a public system. Expansion of social programs and public services. Greater taxation of higher incomes and redistribution. Stronger workplace and occupational-health protections. The government explicitly described itself as having a favourable bias toward workers.

Many of those programs were later copied in the rest of Canada.

As for calling them traitors and pigs, well that says a lot about you. Are Alberta’s separatists also traitors and pigs ?
