Edit: though my water supply is no issue

2·14 days agoThere’s also the problem of government supported solar only being available to homeowners, which means a vast number of households aren’t in the program. Those renters are the ones that fund it without benefit.
Another one of the points of separation between Australia A and the rest of us.

politics @lemmy.world•Sanders calls deal to end government shutdown a "disaster"
1·14 days agoOne thing I will point out as an Aussie who knows the system well…here, the preference choice is given to the voter, not the party unless the voter is happy with that. We can choose to vote the whole ticket or just vote 1 and let that party delegate our preferences.
I always mark the whole ticket. Typically, for me it’s #1 Green, then a raft of independents dependent on their standing, Labor usually third last then One Nation and the Coalition last. Parties do negotiate here about who they’ll preference and that can come down to electorate as well. Generally however, Greens will preference Labor and ON et al will preference the Liberals. Where a preference goes however is at the discretion of the voter unless they just vote 1 for their preferred party.

News@lemmy.world•ICE Is Deporting People to Africa on Nearly Un-Trackable Military Flights | At least one of the flights dumped people in a prison camp in Ghana, a country where they had no ties
2·2 months agoHey? Unreal you blokes.
First you tell people from other countries to mind their own business when they tell you to take part in the easy method of dealing with it, then double down on it. Now you think other countries, who you told to mind their own business, should deal with those subhumans because you blokes can’t deal with it at the polling booth nor within the judiciary. As you point out, you don’t have to worry then, because someone else is dealing with it.
At not one single point in this does the US take responsibility, it’s all palmed off to other nations. Developing ones at that.
Or feel, as they would have wished.

2·2 months agoPeople who support the US opposition to our acceptance of Palestinian sovereignty and say so. People who are happy to see our PM detained and us ‘punished’ for our position.
Conservatives.

3·2 months agoIndeed they are gross for supporting genocide, though by definition supporting the American position of retribution for our reasonable position here is traitorous, unlike that of those supporting Palestine. I’m not sure how else I can define support for ICE detaining Albo which was among a few things I’ve seen today. Not here of course.

2·2 months agoI did, they’re right; these people can’t do the bare minimum. Plus they look for excuses like blaming the colour of the electorate.
The current leadership reflects those electorates and the participation, in every way. They really did get what they voted for, or didn’t.

Disappointing to see so many shitty people back the Americans against our government on this. Traitors as far as I’m concerned.

Polite and perverted.
