Im imagining some of my house mates over the years and the inconsiderate nature in which they closed doors in the middle of the night. It’d be nice if that didn’t have to be a concern. No idea what could be done, but so many nights it effected my sleep. Its my biggest pet peeve.

I don’t really like doors. Not their function but their design. Everyone’s just satisfied with the status quo, like basically the same door for millennium, and no one thinks we should innovate?

This podcast is where I first heard the argument. Coming out of Duke University, it’s very well researched. You’d have to listen to seasons 5 and 6 to get the whole story. They cover nuances that my blanket statement doesn’t.

Christianity marked a shift in how humanity thought of itself. The earth, nature, and all the animals were made for men, by the one true God, to use and take as they pleased. This line of thinking led to colonialism, slavery, and even capitalism and the patriarchy.

I lived there from 2017-2022. I saw some of those upgrades, and I have been back a few times. As was mentioned with that map, is that some of those bike paths still aren’t exactly safe with how close you are to traffic. Many of those are just cross streets with a bicycle painted on the ground.

Here’s a map of proper bike lanes, and areas of high and low stress in the city. You can see there’s still work to be done. Don’t get me wrong, you can get around most places, but those high stress areas are hard to avoid sometimes.

Have you been? You keep spelling it wrong lol. Public transportation there is far from perfect. And as someone that rode a bike there as my primary mode of transportation for 4.5 years (aside from walking and the occasional bus ride when the route was convenient), I can confidently say it’s in definite need of some updated biking infrastructure. There were some very sketchy places to ride.

Thin and light should be the niche product. I want something that’ll last please.

Yeah, and besides that, they’re smarter and more innovative and creative than the rest of us. So, either way, they deserve it.

Without them we could end up with socialism where people might even have democratic control over their workplaces. And of course that would be much worse. For instance, cooperatives are only better in theory, wait, and in practice…
